I've been seeing Dr Yacoob for the last few months and have had a very positive experience. I have seen a few therapists in the past but none of them have made me feel as comfortable as her. I always leave our sessions feeling much better than I did coming in- would definitely recommend her!
Dr. Yacoob is a superb therapist- very empathetic, analytical, and non-judgemental. She strikes the perfect balance between listening and probing / challenging the thinking. Have found her advice incredibly helpful and already see marked improvement in my anxiety levels. The therapy session is my favorite hour of the week which I eagerly look forward to
I would Highly recommend Dr. Yacoob!
Dr. Yacoob is a top class therapist. She was instrumental in helping me through some very difficult times. Issues I presented with were panic attacks, depression, bereavement and other relationship and childhood trauma issues. I’m very grateful to have met Dr.Yacoob. I always felt she ‘was in my corner’, genuinely cared and was extremely knowledgeable and smart. Among other things, she helped me to change my behaviours and my outlook on life. I believe I am a lot healthier and happier as a result. I can’t recommend Dr. Yacoob enough.
Dr Yacoob was really great. She listened to all my feelings and asked me thought provoking questions that I had not considered. I felt like I had broken some ground even after our first session! She really cares and wants to help.
Dr. Yacoob has been amazing. I needed to talk someone about the major life changes that triggered a lot of unresolved trauma from my childhood. She listens well and challenges me to make the necessary changes to have a fulfilling and meaningful life.
First visit and I didn’t have to look elsewhere.
I've been suffering from social anxiety for a while and after looking into many psychologists, I decided to go with Dr. Yacoob. I was a bit nervous going into it and she didn't do anything to help put me at ease. What really struck me was when she kept saying, "I sense resistance" or other such cliches. This came in response to me explaining that I had tried certain techniques and they hadn't worked for me. Instead of digging deeper to understand why it hadn't worked for me she kept doubting what I was saying or doubting my resolution. After the first session, I was pretty sure it wouldn't go anywhere but decided to give it a second shot. The second session was even worse, full of cliches and other textbook responses. She may be good for someone looking for a cookie-cutter psychologist who will tell you everything you can find by searching the internet. If you are looking for someone insightful to put you at ease and help you understand yourself, Dr. Yacoob is not for you.
Dr. Yacoob is has provided life-transforming support over the last year-and-a-half. She presents new frameworks to make sense of things, and listens empathetically and without judgment. My positive experience with her has led me to recommend therapy to many other people.

I've been seeing Julia for about six months, and recommend her without hesitation. She is results-oriented, warm and practical. I particularly like that she uses techniques that allow me to work on issues we've discussed outside of her office; I'm learning skills vs developing a dependency on Therapy.
Since I started seeing Dr. Yacoob in January, I've made major strides in dealing with my anxiety around dating and job stuff. She's helped me figure out and change patterns in my thinking and my behavior, which is making a positive impact on my relationships and work. I feel more confident than ever, and kind of feel like everything is going to be Ok. Dr Yacoob is honest and compassionate, REAL, and very sharp. You can tell she genuinely cares about what she does - she's on your team. Forever grateful!
I had never tried therapy before, but I have really enjoyed my experience with Dr. Yacoob and would certainly recommend her. She has helped me understand and handle certain reactions and emotions around relationship stress, work stress, and social anxiety. She has always been extremely respectful, and I would definitely recommend her to other patients.
Starting with Julia is easily one of the best things I've done for myself. As a newcomer to the world of therapy, she's provided me with a comfortable, enriching and insightful space. Highly recommended.

Doctor Julia Yacoob is an outstanding therapist! She is extremely empathetic, warm and amazing listener! Moreover she is highly intelligent and has a knack for getting to the bottom at the conflicts that I’ve been struggling with for some time! I’d highly recommend her to anyone seeking a competent and caring therapist!
Dr. Yacoob made an immediate change in my self care. The session felt similar to an anxiety blanket - portable relief and peace of mind. Not only does she have the skill set to wade through barriers and cull out the root of an issue; her professional network of resources supports a holistic approach to healthcare. I rarely take the time to write these reviews but her approach far exceeded my expectations.

She was mean and judgmental. She felt threatened and got defensive (i.e. involved herself) as I was expressing my feelings about career options/goals. Her attitude was transparent and extremely unprofessional. I would never recommend her to anyone and hope no one else wastes so much financial resources and an hour in her office.
Dr. Yacoob is handsdown the best. She has always been extremely accommodating and thoughtful. We've worked together on CBT and mindfulness techniques and I have already seen the results reflected in my daily life. She's is great to talk to about anything and has always provided a helpful push in the right direction. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a therapist in NYC.

I've been working with Julia for a while. She listens carefully and helps you work through your issues, but you have to be willing to do the work too. After working with Julia, I feel like I am in a happier and better place.
I'm a male in my mid-twenties struggling with depression/anxiety. Dr. Yacoob has been instrumental in helping me to work through these issues. She's patient, thoughtful and someone you can really trust. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Dr. Yacoob is an excellent therapist. She helps me work through issues by giving me practical tools to use "in the moment." This is much more productive for me personally than only focusing on the past. I strongly recommend her.
I've been seeing Julia for over a year now and she's fantastic! Not only does she take time to get to know you and to understand any issues you might have, she then proposes structured and thoughtful ways to help tackle these problems. I can not recommend her enough!

I read every review for many in the field and booked my first appointment with Dr. Yacoob. She has one of the more lenient cancellation policies; I hate when care providers act like creditors and she is not one of them! Being referred to one "quack" after another I finally found someone who knows how to measure evidence based methods with results. Her educational pedigree is ivy elague (I'm picky that way) and it actually makes a difference. I'm so happy I found her, truly every session makes a difference whereas I found with other professionals it's pure bs. If you're reading this comment and you are tired of the norm - I hope it helps to know that your time isn't wasted with her.

Julia was great during our sessions. Great bedside manner and seemed to understand my underlying issues and, more importantly, how to handle me as a person (I don't respond well to open ended questions; very direct). I was a fan and hoped she would help. Needed to reschedule my 3rd appointment due to a work conflict - she was fine w it and offered another option because she was going on vacay after me (week). I didn't respond to her in time as I was in Europe. Received an email with deadline for confirming appointment. Didn't respond in time and never heard from her again. Not sure I would have handled it that way if my job were to make people better.

Seeing Dr. Yacoob has been a crucial part of my recovery from an eating disorder, as well as dealing with my anxiety and more specific personal issues. Immensely helpful, recommend highly.
    excellent
Dr. Yacoob is very good. She is results oriented and works with you so that you can accomplish your goals. She can be very insightful and has made me realize things about myself that I haven't thought of before. I would definitely recommend her for someone who is looking to change their behavior.
As someone who has been treated by numerous therapists (around 10), Dr. Yacoob is the best of the best. I have been seeing her for 5 months and she is truly outstanding. Trustworthy, attentive, on top of it, kind, caring, intelligent, reasonable, and most importantly, on your side. She not only sees things from a therapist's perspective, but also has the ability to see things from your perspective. Her collaborative and pragmatic approach is a true winner, and I look forward to our visits. I'm very lucky to have her on my team.
