Getting to know Julianne Folsom

I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, corporate coach, and life coach specializing in adult outpatient mental health, with a focus on mood disorders, anxiety, ADHD, and treatment-resistant depression. My practice in Seattle, WA combines evidence-based psychopharmacology with a collaborative, patient-centered approach—because effective treatment starts with truly understanding your unique story.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My clinical philosophy is simple: you are the expert on your life; I am the expert on psychiatric treatment. Together, we build a plan that fits your goals, your schedule, and your values. I offer same-week appointments, telepsychiatry options, and flexible follow-up scheduling—because mental health care should work around your life, not the other way around.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first visit is a 60-minute comprehensive evaluation. I begin by listening to your story, then use structured clinical interviewing and validated screening tools (PHQ-9, GAD-7) to assess mood, anxiety, cognition, trauma, and medical factors. Together, we build a personalized treatment plan—medication, therapy referral, or both—based on your goals and preferences. Follow-ups are 30 minutes, not rushed 15-minute checks. We track symptoms, adjust medications, and address coping strategies. I provide supportive counseling during visits but refer to skilled therapists for weekly psychotherapy, ensuring coordinated, comprehensive care. My diagnostic process rules out medical causes, considers bipolar spectrum and trauma, and uses measurement-based care—rating scales at every visit to objectively track progress. If you're not 50% better in 4-6 weeks, we pivot.
