Getting to know Julie C. Martinez

Hi! I'm Julie. Do you feel so much despair that it clouds the good things in your life? Are you an intelligent student or employee, but you feel like you can't accomplish what you need to? Do you worry about everything, or are you so shy that the thought of going out with a group makes you feel sick? I could list hundreds of examples, but you don't want to read them! The important thing for you to know is that you are not alone, and there is help available. There is nothing that I would rather hear you say than, "I feel so much better than when we started." I have over 15 years of nursing experience, beginning as a Registered Nurse at the VA Hospital in Tampa, Florida. I earned my Master's in Family Nursing from the University of South Florida. For the past 10 years, I have practiced as a nurse practitioner, dual-certified in Family Medicine and Psychiatry, with psychiatry being my passion. My experience spans Internal Medicine, inpatient and outpatient Palliative Care, and outpatient Psychiatry/Mental Health. I treat most psychiatric diagnoses, but my specialties are depression and ADHD-probably because I struggle with those two myself-so when I say, "I understand how that feels," I mean it. I share my history because I believe it's important for my patients to know that no matter how bad things seem, you can overcome them and regain control of your relationships, education, career, or whatever aspect of your life feels like it's spiraling downward. I also want you to know AND feel that it really is okay to NOT be okay-as long as you are trying to change it.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You will never feel invalidated, unheard, or judged by me. I will always take time to make sure you have a thorough understanding of your treatment plan, and we will make all treatment decisions together after I have explained all of the available options. Before I prescribe a medication, I will make sure that you know exactly what it is for and how it should work and are aware of any side effects to watch for. I will give you choices and I will explain why I recommend one over another if that is the case, but the final decision for what you put in your body is yours.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits
