Getting to know Julie Solomon

Hello! I am a caring, intuitive, and knowledgeable psychiatric nurse practitioner working in the state of Maryland who provides medication management and therapy. I am credentialed in EMDR and fluent in Internal Family Systems Therapy. I deliver my services online and in person. My practice is small so I am flexible and attentive to my clients' needs. I take Blue Cross and Aetna Insurances, as well as self-pay clients. I do not prescribe benzodiazapines such as xanax, alprazolam, clonazapam, diazepam, ativan, or lorazepam unless the client wants to undergo a slow taper. I prescribe stimulates if needed for clients with ADHD but only up to 50mg per day and with the following provisos: clients must obtain bloodwork, an EKG, and have one in person appointment with me as per FDA regulations. I need an initial bloodwork for all new clients who want prescriptions. Clients on lithium and antipsychotics will be asked to get bloodwork at least twice a year. I work well with clients who have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, and trauma of all kinds. I am flexible and do my best to work with my clients concerns and needs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I am a thorough and caring clinician

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A medcheck ins 30 minuates and and therapy sessions are 50-55 minutes. During therapy I ask the client what he/she/they want to talk about and then I will bring up my observations. Sometimes we will do EMDR or imagery sessions. I also use artwork and sometimes assign reading and homework which is all voluntary of course.

Julie is fantastic at what she does. From the very first appointment, she made me feel comfortable and truly listened to me.

Julie is an amazing therapist. I started seeing her because I needed someone who specialized in trauma and her approach helped me heal in ways I didn’t think possible. She is also a psychiatrist so I can do therapy and meds in one appointment.
I have been working with Dr. Solomon for over four years and I cannot stress enough how much I have appreciated working with her. She was able to diagnose me after nearly a decade of misdiagnoses, is always available for last minute questions or requests, and is both kind and efficient.
I've had quite a few psychiatrists and there's a reason for that. Julie is the first practitioner that I felt has not only truly listened to me, but worked with me to find me the best medication and wanted me to feel my best, not just better. Julie cares, and she's good at what she does.
Julie is a fantastic therapist and demonstrates expertise with treating the mental health challenges that come with a history of trauma. She listens closely and empathetically and then asks the right questions to help you get to the root of what is causing distress. She uses various styles of therapy including trauma informed and somatic focused. I would highly recommend (and have!) this therapist to any friend looking for mental health support.
I have been working with Julie Solomon, Ph.D., PMH-NP-BC, CRNP for 4 years now. She is wonderful! She is supportive, listens to my concerns, and is caring. I highly recommend her.
Julie is a fantastic provider. She's very engaging, insightful, and thoughtful. I feel like she truly cares about me as a person. She's very accessible and responsive, which had not always been my experience with other providers. Also, her background in literature and philosophy gives her an interesting perspective on the issues we've discussed.
I would recommend anyone to go see Julie. The way that she is able to communicate in a way that fits where you are in your journey is wonderful. The way that she listens too is something I’ve not been able to find until I saw her. She is truly good at what she does!
Over the last 4 yrs, Julie has helped me so much. First off, she picked up on what the psychiatrist I’d been seeing for 10 yrs had completely missed - my anxiety - which had been exacerbated by the meds he prescribed to me! Also CPTSD and bipolar, which had never even been brought up. Those discoveries are directly related to her ability to prescribe meds AND provide therapy. This is such a big deal. If your meds need adjusting, she can do it in real time and nothing gets lost in translation between the two roles. Once my meds were set, the fog cleared and we were able to get down to the real work. Her knowledge of a variety of different modalities helped us find the ones that worked best for me, and since then, we’ve been able to tackle my issues one by one - & there’s a whole lot of ‘em, folks lol. I’ve come so far. So, so far. Calling Julie was the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.
