Dr. Muzere is double board-certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry as well as Adult Psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Although she has experience working with all ages, she specializes in working with children and adolescents and enjoys working with college-aged adults. Dr Muzere’s initial session consists of a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation to determine the cause of emotional and behavioral challenges while assessing potential biological, social and psychological contributing factors. Through collaboration with the patient and family, a customized treatment plan is made incorporating evidence-based medication management and therapy. Dr Muzere also collaborates with therapists, schools and Pediatricians to optimize care of patients. She has experience working in multiple settings such as outpatient, partial hospitalization, inpatient and emergency rooms and is trained in treating mood disorders (such as depression, bipolar disorder) anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, eating disorders, autism, psychosis and disruptive behaviors. Dr. Muzere received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst where she majored in Biology. She attended medical school at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Stratford, New Jersey (formerly University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey/UMDNJ- School of Osteopathic Medicine). She thoroughly enjoyed her psychiatry rotation and decided to pursue a career in this specialty. After medical school she attended Morehouse School of Medicine/MSM in Atlanta, GA for Adult Psychiatry. She was actively involved in teaching medical students and received the Arnold P Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award.
