About Dr. Julio Quiroz Olvera
Julio Cesar Quiroz-Olvera, MD, attended the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas, earning his medical degree in 2015. He went on to the DeTar Family Medicine Residency/ Texas A&M University School of Medicine, completing his internship and residency in 2022 and 2024, respectively. Dr. Quiroz-Olvera joined Kelsey-Seybold’s Family Medicine department in August 2024.
After seeing his loved ones struggle with chronic conditions, Dr. Quiroz-Olvera pursued medicine to make a difference in the lives of others and has a particular interest in helping patients manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, heart disease, and others. As a Family Medicine physician, Dr. Quiroz-Olvera treats patients of all ages and cares for them as if they were his own family.

I left this visit feeling unheard and rushed. The appointment felt very hurried, to the point that I didn’t feel able to fully bring up or explain my concerns.
The provider’s tone felt condescending and lacked empathy. When I mentioned increased snoring, I was cut off mid-sentence and immediately referred to a sleep specialist without discussion. When I raised frequent urination—which wakes me up at night—I was asked, “What do you want to do about it?” When I asked for guidance, I was told it “I don't know. Could be anything. Do you really want to see a specialist again?”.
I mentioned chronic back pain that limits my ability to exercise, but this context wasn’t explored. I was simply told to exercise 30–45 minutes daily without discussion of feasibility.
Overall, I did not feel listened to or supported, and the visit lacked actionable guidance. I understand time constraints exist, but I expect basic attentiveness, empathy, and shared decision-making from a primary care provider.
