He received advanced training in Primary Care and Ocular Disease, completing externships at the Tucson VA Medical Center and OMNI Surgical Center in Atlanta. Dr. Rapp is a primary eye care physician with experience treating a wide range of medical and visual eye problems. He is licensed to practice optometry in the states of New York and New Jersey. Dr. Rapp is a member of the American Optometric Association, the New York State Optometric Association and the American Academy of Optometry.

I recommend Justin Rapp, he was very friendly and professional. But didn't love the appearance of the location or the other people working in the office who were trying to push glasses on me. I only needed my eyes examined - was going somewhere else with the prescription for glasses. Didn't need someone to give me a hard time about not buying glasses on the spot.

Dr. Rapp is fantastic. His staff, however, are snooty lazy idiots who act as if you walking in their door is the most inconvenient thing that's ever happened to them. They 'lost' my first appointment, they told me to come in the next day at 9am.... staff didn't show up until 9:30am to unlock the door, and it was winter and raining. Afterward they spent no time, sold me a pair of glasses that don't really fit. Go somewhere else.

Easy and efficient! Went during my lunch break at 12pm, arrived a little early and had to fill out a quick form (don't accept full ZocDoc forms). Was for annual exam and obtain a new, light prescription for distance. Finished the exam and choose frames within 20 minutes (Dr. Rapp was awesome and asked for what I needed and didn't push things on me). Grabbed lunch and returned 25 min later to pickup new glasses. All finished with appointment and lunch within in the hour!

It quite possibly was the best medical office experience I've ever had. He was very thorough in explaining everything and was clearly very passionate about his practice which is refreshing. We even had a chance to discuss the virtues and downside potentially of reading the GoT books after already having watched the TV version.

The doctor was great, however there was an issue with the office staff where they were trying to get me to pay a contact fitting fee that didn't apply to me because I had already been wearing contacts for 8 years. In the end I didn't pay the fee but they office person was very rude/angry during this discussion.

I was extremely pleased by Justin's thorough exam. Justin is very personable, he made me feel comfortable immediately. Not only did he spent quality time with me to make sure his prescription was accurate, he explained the process and equipment to insure I had a complete understanding of the exam.

The initial appointment was okay. The wait time was good but the place is a bit weird as it share space with a shoe shine store. Equipment seemed old and outdated and he wasn't even able to dilate my eyes because he didn't have supplies. Was told that I would received my contacts on a Thursday and received it a day later than told. When I picked them up, was not able to get an itemized receipt. Called in and they told me to email them. Emailed. 11 days later no response. He asked if he could fax it to me. We went over the same conversation that I did not have a fax number and he told me to email them at a different email. Been trying to get a itemized receipt for 3 weeks. Too many other optimistic in the city. Not professional. I understand hurricane sandy hit but the lack of communication was poor.

What a lovely human being! One of the nicest doctors I've ever gone to. Doctors are so often condescending but Dr. Rapp is anything but, and extremely helpful and open to questions.

He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. He seems to be a really nice person in addition to being good at what he does. I will definitely go back in the future!
Unfortunately, they do not actually accept vsp anymore. However, I was assured that a claim would be submitted and I would be reimbursed.

I may not have read the previous reviews clearly enough, but I was surprised to find the doctor's practice is in an eyeglass store in the garment district. It's clean & well-lit but the space is very narrow and the back part of it is taken up by a shoe-shine business (including a large 3-seater stand). There really isn't a place to wait/sit and fortunately I didn't have to wait long. But the set-up is claustrophobic and a little off-putting. Beyond the space constraints, I found the staff in the eyeglass store polite enough but overbearing.

I had a bit of trouble finding the place: FYI the office has a storefront entrance just west of building 147 on W. 35th. If you're coming from the east you won't see it.
Once I got in the place, I was seen right away, and Dr. Rapp was happy to work with me to figure out how to get the most bang for my buck given what insurance would cover. He's amicable and he explained things very clearly and in detail. The turn around time is the fastest I've seen.
I'd definitely recommend him. Also, the man who answers the phone has the most New York accent I've ever heard in my life, which adds something special to the visit.

so friendly and personable.
My usual doctors appointments are dreadful. I felt like I was in great hands. Brightened up my day for sure!

Dr. Rapp is just about the nicest doctor I have ever visited. He is caring and attentive, and very knowledgeable about the field. He diligently answered all of my questions, and I would not hesitate to visit him again. He is located in a store that has a great selection of glasses at an extremely fair and affordable price.
