Getting to know Kailee Merryfield
I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner and therapist dedicated to helping you not just manage your mental health but truly thrive. I hold a Master's in Nursing from the MGH Institute of Health Professions. If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, PTSD, or ADHD and feel that medication and therapy might be part of your journey to wellness, you're in the right place.
What should a new client know about working with you?
My goal is to meet you where you are currently at and empower you to meet your goals while also supporting you in your journey to a better you. I can provide medication management as well as therapy for any client seeking treatment. Successful treatment is helping someone truly thrive and stop feeling like they are surviving day to day. I believe that medication with therapy can be important tools to help a client be successful in overcoming mental health challenges and find their inner resiliency.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My approach for the first session is to get to know you and your goals for treatment. I will always ask if you want to rebook with me and I want you to tell me if you don't find something helpful. I believe in person-centered treatment with the client always being the focus to help you be the most successful.
In sessions, I will be a guide for you on your journey and help you navigate the challenges you face through supportive listening and cognitive restructuring. I mainly use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) but also can integrate EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) to help clients struggling with trauma.
For clients seeking medication only, the approach I use is similar with appointments being more focused on medication changes or updates but also looking at how effective the medication actually is. I never change more than one medication at a time without good reason and will always allow time for questions or concerns. My initial appointments are always 1 hour and follow ups are at least 30 minutes. I find allowing for more time, allows a client more time to ask questions and voice any concerns they may have.
