Getting to know Kaitlyn Costas

Mental health challenges can affect many aspects of daily life, from personal relationships and professional responsibilities to overall emotional well-being. Whether you're experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, mood disorders, or substance use concerns, finding the right support is an important part of moving forward. My approach focuses on understanding your individual experiences, concerns, and treatment goals. At Century City Psychiatry, I work alongside a team of psychiatric nurse practitioners under the supervision of Dr. Mike Mah, providing thoughtful, individualized psychiatric care in a supportive and collaborative environment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where I take the time to understand your concerns, medical and mental health history, current symptoms, and treatment goals. From there, we work together to develop an individualized treatment plan based on your specific needs. This may include medication management, therapeutic techniques, patient education, and lifestyle recommendations. Through regular follow-up appointments, we monitor your progress, discuss any concerns, and make adjustments to your treatment plan as clinically appropriate. My goal is to provide consistent, collaborative care that supports your mental health and overall well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The process begins with an initial psychiatric evaluation to better understand your symptoms, mental health history, previous treatments, and current concerns. Based on this assessment, we discuss your treatment options and develop a personalized care plan that aligns with your needs and goals. Follow-up appointments allow us to evaluate your progress, assess your response to treatment, address any concerns, and make adjustments when clinically appropriate. Throughout the process, I emphasize open communication, patient education, and shared decision-making to ensure you remain actively involved in your care.

Quality psychiatric care shouldn't mean going out of network. I'm in-network with most major insurance plans, so you can get thorough, unhurried care using the coverage you already have. Insurance accepted: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross (including WGA, DGA, MPIHP/IATSE, and UC SHIP), Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna/Evernorth, Medicare, MultiPlan/PHCS, TRICARE/TriWest, and UnitedHealthcare. Before your first visit: Our team verifies your benefits ahead of time and lets you know what to expect, so there are no surprises. You're responsible for any copay, coinsurance, or deductible under your plan. UC SHIP members (UCLA students): Your plan requires a referral from UCLA CAPS before your first visit. Please have your CAPS referral number ready when booking. Without it, your visit may not be covered. No insurance or prefer to self-pay? Self-pay rates are listed above. We accept all major credit cards, and HSA/FSA cards.
