Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
CT
*After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete required intake forms prior to your appointment* I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing from Yale University. I provide telehealth medication management, psychiatric evaluations, and therapy to adults in Florida and Connecticut. Before becoming a nurse practitioner, I studied psychology and developed a deep fascination with the complexity and individuality of mental health. I believe no one is immune to struggle, and some are more vulnerable due to circumstances beyond their control. Providing support and treatment is what makes this field so meaningful to me. My training prepared me to work across the lifespan, from children to older adults. I have worked with diverse populations, including children in foster care, young adults in transitional programs, individuals experiencing homelessness, and those involved in the legal system or receiving psychiatric care while incarcerated. I specialize in mood disorders such as major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and cyclothymia, as well as substance use and eating disorders. My initial interest centered on eating disorders and the mood disorders that often co-occur. During training, I developed a strong interest in forensic psychiatry and personality disorders, areas that challenge clinicians to look beyond diagnoses and engage deeply in behavioral work and therapeutic approaches.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to care focuses on both the relationship between you and me and the relationship you have with yourself. I aim to build a supportive, empathetic connection where you feel heard, respected, and understood. I believe every person has the capacity for growth and change. My goal is to meet clients where they are and support them as they move toward where they want to be. Above all, I want you to feel supported and empowered. It’s never too late to begin the journey toward becoming the best version of yourself, and it’s absolutely okay to need help along the way. My work begins with building a strong therapeutic relationship that allows me to understand what each client is truly seeking. From there, I prioritize the least invasive and most effective strategies to improve both symptoms and quality of life, always emphasizing collaboration with the client. I have worked in residential settings with children and adolescents, where I found it especially meaningful to provide support during such a vulnerable stage in their lives, particularly while they were away from home. I have also worked in community mental health and detox programs, where I valued the opportunity to meet people where they were, whether in crisis or simply needing monthly check-ins to stay on track. I am a Miami native who recently returned to Florida after completing my training at Yale University to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Family and friendships are very important to me, and in my free time I enjoy being outdoors, cooking, biking, spending time on the water, and reading. Outside of work, I love preparing dinner, though I admit the dishes sometimes take away from the fun. I also enjoy evening walks along the boardwalk, especially at sunset. Before bed, I usually wind down with a TV show, though I often prefer to read since it helps me fall asleep.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy with me begins with education and awareness, particularly around substance use and unhealthy eating patterns. I focus on helping clients understand why these behaviors occur and the purposes they may serve. When working toward behavior change, I often use motivational interviewing, which is highly effective in addressing ambivalence and strengthening motivation for growth. For clients struggling with mood concerns, I frequently use cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns. I also incorporate interpersonal and social rhythm therapy (IPSRT) with clients who experience mood swings or mania and benefit from developing structure and routine. I have specialized training in CBT-E for the treatment of eating disorders, as well as a strong understanding of medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for individuals struggling with addiction. I also use dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) when working with individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) or those struggling with self-harm.
