Raised in Colorado, Kara earned her bachelor's degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology from the University of Colorado, Boulder. She continued her education at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, where she obtained both a bachelor's and a master's degree in nursing.
Kara has worked in orthopedics, gynecology, and family medicine. She is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and practices family medicine because she enjoys caring for the entire family, from the youngest to the oldest. She treats the whole person and strives to help patients take charge of their own medical care.
?Between my father, who is a veterinarian, and my mother, who is a social worker, I was bound to end up in a profession that advocates for the protection and promotion of health and wellness in all living things. There are very few professions that allow you to have a direct impact on someone's wellbeing. Medicine gives me that ability.?
When not at work, Kara enjoys being outdoors with her family, practicing yoga, and helping the community. She feels that yoga and the outdoors feed her mind, body, and soul and allow her to be more socially conscious in all aspects of her life.
