I'm Doc Karen! I'm a psychiatric nurse practitioner. My ideal client is all who suffer from some type of mental illness (depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, ADHD, ODD, you name it). I see all ages. It is my goal to see you conquer your symptoms and become the best version of you. I will meet you where you are and help navigate the path that will alleviate any issues or struggles you are currently dealing with. This world can be very challenging not only physically but mentally. I'm here to help you overcome these challenges. I mainly focus on medication management and utilize the power of how medications can help you with your struggles. Along side therapy, medication management is the best optimal treatment that we have at hand. I call myself a professional student. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the College of Charleston. Afterwards, I obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing at University of South Carolina. Then I went to specialize in Family Nurse Practitioner at Georgia State University. Psychiatry, was one of my first area of specialization after graduating from Georgia State. I loved psychiatry so much that I went back to school to my get Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. After 23 years, I still love psychiatry!. Mind you I said I am a professional student, so I went back to school to obtain my Doctorate of Nursing Practice degree at the University of Tennessee. Learning hasn't stop. I continue to learn so much from my clients. I'm thrill to work for Sondermind! I know you have different practitioners to choose from and it's great to have so many options. I want to let you know that I'm proud of you for seeking help. There is still a mental health stigma out there. You are not "crazy"! Mental illness is real! It's like treating a cardiac problem instead of treating your heart we are treating your brain as well. With both of us working together you can start living your best life!
