Karen worked as a nurse in outpatient and hospital settings for over 20 years before graduating from the University of Washington with a Master’s in Nursing, specializing in Psychiatric Nursing. She has been a psychiatric nurse practitioner since 2013, focusing on the care of individuals with mental health issues including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, and PTSD.
Her goal in caring for patients is to help them improve their quality of life and recognize how small mental health improvements can have a ripple effect. She finds it rewarding to guide people through the process of diagnosis, self-awareness, treatment, and sustained improvement in mental health.
When not at work, Karen enjoys being an empty-nester and spending as much time outdoors as possible.

I made an appointment and waited on the link for the appointment. She never showed up, I waited for over 30 min. Then 7 hours later, an automated call ringed me informing of my appointment that was supposed to happen 7 hours earlier that day. Very thorough and caring provider! She asked a lot of thoughtful questions to get to know me. I was able to get an appointment quickly and the office contacted me beforehand to make sure I was able to access telehealth appointment. Provider likes to do monthly check-ins which is rare for psychiatrists.

Karen is not even suppose to be on Zocdoc as a therapist, she mainly does psyche evaluations and prescribes meds. She told me she has been trying to get them to remove her off this site. Don't book if you are in search of talk therapy.

She’s very knowledgeable and she asks a lot of questions but not just a typical ones that you usually have to go through. If you have to try to find a mental health provider before you know what I mean by that. She listens and she seems very proactive she’s gotten more accomplished in that one visit then I seem to been able to accomplished in the last few I’ve had with other providers definitely recommend.

Dr. Krikorian mainly specializes in medication management which I didn’t know going into this appointment. She still did a full assessment with me and went over my primary concerns and issues. She gave me a couple of prescriptions that should help with my acute needs and suggested what kind of specialties to look for when seeking talk/behavioral therapy. She was thorough and kind and I look forward to working with her to manage my medications, as needed.

It is not a great experience. The Practitioner was late to the appointment by 20 minutes and was not at all focussed to listen to me . I felt like my time was not properly respected- there was an office tour that took place while my appointment was going on . And the practitioner herself accompanied the tour - which is not good I believe . I wouldn’t recommend. Her diagnosis is also not very solid .

I have had only 3 appointments with Karen, but in all of them I have been made to feel comfortable enough to share with her my life experiences and that has allowed me to make real progress in treating my mental health issues. She is a savant when it comes to evaluations, reading patients and coming up with solutions whether it be medications or other health advice. I highly recommend her as she is stellar at what she does.

I was scared to death because I have never had any sort of mental health screening before, but it was ok. I would say that I felt relieved by the end. There was nothing weird or even really terribly awkward about it even though I was asked a lot of questions. Also, Dr Krikorian was able to both be open to me trying a medication I thought might help while also clearly explaining why she thought something else may be a better fit for me. My overall impression is that the experience was better than expected.
