Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
CO
Hi, I’m Kat, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting people through some of life’s hardest moments, and one thing became clear: mental health is at the center of everything. That understanding is what brought me to psychiatry and continues to shape how I approach care today. I hold degrees in the arts and nursing from James Madison University and Marymount University respectively, before obtaining my Master of Science in Nursing from Regis University. This diverse educational background informs my practice and reflects my commitment to whole-person, integrated care. My style is collaborative, thoughtful, and rooted in evidence-based care. I provide care always tailored to the individual, with attention to both symptoms and the broader context of each person’s life. I take the time to understand each person’s full story and support them in a way that feels both manageable and meaningful. As a parent myself, I also know the unique pressures that come with raising a family and believe in offering compassionate care that meets people where they are. While I'm originally from Northern Virginia, I moved to Colorado in 2011 on a whim, and it quickly felt like home. I live here with my husband, two children, and two cats. We enjoy exploring Colorado and traveling to visit family on both coasts and in the Midwest. Still, I’m a homebody at heart, enjoying a quiet evening with cooking and movies, a creative project, a good audiobook, or time with neighbors.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In sessions with me, you can expect a down-to-earth and supportive approach. We’ll take time to understand what’s going on now and look at the bigger picture, including what might be contributing beneath the surface. My goal is to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and judgment-free, so you can explore what’s weighing on you and start building a path forward. Together, we’ll work toward not just feeling better, but feeling stronger, more balanced, and more like yourself!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During your initial 60-minute appointment, we’ll meet to embark on a thorough evaluation. Together, we'll delve into your current symptoms, lifestyle, social factors, personal history, and medical conditions. We firmly believe that a comprehensive assessment is essential to tailor treatment recommendations to your unique needs. Please anticipate that multiple visits may be needed to complete this evaluation and before prescribing medication. We also may recommend laboratory testing, as various biological factors could contribute to your symptoms. Initially, we'll schedule frequent sessions, every 1-4 weeks, enabling me to gain deeper insights into you as a person and your overall health. This approach also allows us to conduct a thorough evaluation and craft a personalized, detailed care plan tailored to your needs. As your treatment advances and you start noticing positive changes, we'll adjust the frequency of sessions accordingly.
