Kathleen Rodgers, APRN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
NJ
*After booking, you will receive a link via IntakeQ so you can complete the required intake forms prior to your appointment* I provide medication management, psychiatric evaluations, and therapy to adults, and I specialize in generalized anxiety disorder, borderline personality disorder, depression, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and psychosis. I have been working as a nurse since 2011. I spent the majority of my career working in intensive care units as an RN. I really enjoyed supporting patients and families during some of the hardest moments of their lives. Even small improvements felt meaningful, and I appreciated being part of a team that could make a real difference hour by hour. My ICU experience showed me how closely mental and physical health are connected. Addressing a patient’s emotional well-being was often key to helping them achieve success in their physical recovery. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I really enjoy building long-term therapeutic relationships with patients. Getting to know their story, seeing their progress over time, and tailoring care to what truly matters to them is incredibly meaningful.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m passionate about educating and empowering you. When people understand their conditions and treatment options, they feel more in control and more engaged in their healing process. I provide a non-judgmental, supportive space, and my goal is to understand your experiences. I practice collaboratively; we make decisions together, and I will always explain options, risks, and benefits so you feel empowered in your care. My goal is to help you succeed on your mental health journey!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is biopsychosocial and collaborative. I focus on understanding the biological, psychological, and social factors influencing your symptoms, and I work with you to create a shared treatment plan. My treatment approach integrates medication management with therapeutic modalities. Medication can help treat symptoms. Therapy helps to treat the patterns and behaviors behind these symptoms. Therapy can help to change negative thought patterns, build coping skills, and understand yourself!
