Getting to know Dr. Kayla Day Krug

Hi, I’m Kayla Day Krug, and I’m dedicated to helping teens and young adults manage the ups and downs of anxiety and depression. With over ten years of experience in psychiatry and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from Arizona State University’s Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation, I’m here to offer a compassionate and personalized approach to your care. My main focus is medication management, working with you to find the right treatment for your unique needs. I believe in a thoughtful, balanced approach to medication that supports your mental health and helps you feel more in control. Creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings and work through challenges is at the heart of what I do. Whether you’re starting your mental health journey or looking for new ways to approach it, I’m here to support you every step of the way. Together, we’ll create a plan that helps you feel empowered and on the path to lasting well-being. I’m looking forward to meeting you and walking this journey with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is comprehensive, collaborative, and deeply patient-centered. I don’t simply prescribe something and send you on your way. Instead, I take time to understand your whole story and the many factors that may be influencing how you feel. You can expect a thoughtful, thorough exploration during our early sessions as we work together to uncover what’s really going on and determine the most meaningful next steps. I’m direct, compassionate, and focused on creating a space where you feel both supported and empowered. My style is warm but clear, and I aim to help teens and adults navigate depression and anxiety with practical guidance, honest conversation, and a care plan that fits who you are and what you need.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your psychiatric nurse practitioner will begin by asking you several questions to establish an accurate diagnosis. They will then prescribe any necessary medications and refer you to therapy suited to your needs. Ongoing follow-up appointments, generally scheduled monthly, will be essential for continued medication management and support.

Kayla is an outstanding provider—knowledgeable, compassionate, and attentive. She truly listens and makes you feel cared for. Highly recommended!
I was pleasantly surprised with how quick they could see me and establish care. It was such a quick easy process and Dr Krug really took the time to review everything thoroughly.
Kayla was wonderful! She asked for an update on my life, and I could tell she cared about my answer and how I was doing. It was a wonderful conversation! Then she helped me with my meds and smiled the entire time.
Easy to talk to.
Seeing Kayla was like a breath of fresh air. I can't remember the last time I had a provider who was so professional, genuine, and knowledgeable. Her office accommodated me last minute, but I never felt rushed and Kayla took her time to get to know me, my history, and my situation. I'm so thankful to have found her and highly recommend her!
