Marriage and Family Therapist

I work with preteens, teens, adults, and the couples and families they belong to. Maybe you're a parent who can't get through a single conversation with your teenager without it turning into a fight. Maybe you and your partner are cycling through the same argument. Maybe you're a young person carrying anxiety, low self-esteem, or a persistent sense of not measuring up. If any of that sounds familiar, you're in the right place. My practice centers on family conflict, parent–teen relationships, blended and stepfamily dynamics, school and peer stress, and neurodivergence, along with anxiety, depression, and the transitions that unsettle a household. My work is relational and experiential, grounded in the belief that the patterns beneath a conflict matter more than the conflict itself. Rather than only talking about a problem, I help you slow the pattern down, understand it, and practice something different. A session might involve creating something together, rehearsing a real conversation, or trying a tool you can take home. I draw on attachment-based, emotionally focused, family systems, narrative, and solution-focused approaches, and I adapt the format to whoever is in the room—an individual, a couple, or an entire family. I hold a master's degree in Couple and Family Therapy from Saint Louis University and am licensed in Arizona as an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist. I see clients in person at Live Well Counseling Center, 7272 East Indian School Road, Suite 540, Scottsdale, Arizona, and online via secure video.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My work is relational and hands-on. I'm interested in the pattern underneath the problem: what happens just before things go sideways, and what each person is actually needing in that moment. We won't only sit and talk about it—sometimes we'll build something together, role-play a conversation you've been avoiding, or practice a tool you can take home and try before we meet again. I work with preteens, teens, adults, couples, and whole families, in person at our Scottsdale office or online by video.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your first full session is an intake. I'll ask what brought you here and what's happening in your relationships at home, at school, or at work. If you're coming in as a couple or family, I want to hear from everyone—not just the person who booked. In our second session, we build your treatment plan together. These are the goals that matter most to you and how we'll know we're making progress toward them. You'll leave with a clear picture of what we're working toward, not just a sense that we've started talking. After that, sessions settle into a rhythm. We check in on the week, then pick up the thread we've been working on. My work is relational and experiential, so I'm less interested in analyzing a problem than in changing what happens in the moment. We might replay an argument and practice a different ending, rehearse a conversation you've been avoiding, or build something together. You'll usually leave with something concrete to try. Sessions run about 60 minutes, typically weekly.
