Getting to know Kelly Crenshaw

I am a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing comprehensive psychiatric care, including evaluations, medication management, and holistic wellness strategies for patients of all ages. I have been a nurse for 18 years and a nurse practitioner for 9 years. My approach to care is evidence-based and holistic. While medication can be an important part of treatment, I also focus on improving sleep, exercise, nutrition, and other lifestyle factors that support mental health. I believe in the power of positivity and gratitude as tools to help clients move toward becoming the best versions of themselves. I am passionate about helping clients understand their diagnoses and recognize that a diagnosis does not define who they are. My goal is to provide clarity without labeling someone in a way that limits their identity or potential. I work collaboratively with each client to create an individualized treatment plan designed to achieve meaningful symptom improvement and better daily functioning. Many of the clients I work with are women navigating anxiety and depression in the midst of parenthood or other major life stressors. I also treat adults with ADHD and have spent significant time studying how ADHD shows up in everyday life — not just clinically, but in relationships, work, and responsibilities. I emphasize coping skills, self-advocacy, and identifying personal strengths as part of the treatment process. I am committed to building therapeutic relationships grounded in empathy and respect. I enjoy educating clients about their diagnoses and treatment options so we can develop a thoughtful, collaborative plan of care together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a collaborative, nonjudgmental approach and want clients to feel comfortable sharing their story at their own pace. I make space for questions and concerns, and I’m flexible in how we work together, meeting people where they are. I also incorporate diet and lifestyle into care and can integrate a Christian perspective if that’s important to you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I start by listening and understanding each person’s story, then work together to identify goals and next steps. My approach often includes a mix of CBT, DBT, and motivational interviewing, along with attention to lifestyle factors like nutrition. I adjust along the way based on what’s working and what the client needs.

My visit was prompt and on time, and always pleasant. My provider cares about my wellbeing and helps me to be a better me.
Kelly is a very professional individual with only you in mind. She is easy to talk to and solve issues together. I highly recommend Kelly, she is the best.
I have had great visits with my nurse practitioner. She is a good listener a provides helpful information each time I see her. She is always there for me!
My visits with Kelly Crenshaw are always productive & positive. She knows me very well as I've been a patient of hers for years. I see Kelly every 4-6 weeks. We discuss my medication & she checks to see how things are going in my daily life, including questioning me about symptoms related to bipolar disorder and ADHD. I think Kelly would have a wonderful rapport with anyone who is lucky enough to have her as a provider. She is always warm & friendly, very professional, & is always available to me. At times, we communicate in the message center on the Advaita website. I am very happy to be working with her as I navigate my life with the mental challenges I have. Caroline Barndt is my other provider at AIM. She is an excellent therapist. We also have a great rapport. We see each other biweekly. She is very knowledgeable & sometimes recommends outside resources when I express an interest in something we've discussed. I feel very comfortable talking to Caroline. I can tell her anything.
Ms. Crenshaw is wonderful. It is always a pleasure to speak with her because she is so knowledgeable and helpful. She never brushes off any concerns you might have. I feel fortunate to be able to work with her.
I never feel rushed with Kelly and she truly cares about how I am doing. I have been to doctors that make you feel like you are nothing but a number and you question why you were there in the first place but that is not how I feel with Kelly. She knows when to speak and when to actively listen. She is a great doctor and AIM deserves kudos for finding/employing her!
Kelly Crenshaw is wonderful and I fully trust her. I do not like Advaita's approach to finances and pre-charging for visits. Out of all the medical services I've ever rendered (dentist, PCP, cosmetic dermatology, psychiatric, counseling, etc etc) I have never been billed up front.
