What should a new client know about working with you?

New clients can expect a collaborative, supportive, and nonjudgmental experience when working with me. I believe that the most effective mental health care happens when patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their treatment. My role is to listen carefully, understand your goals and concerns, and provide clear, evidence-based options so that we can make informed decisions together about your care. I strive to create a safe and welcoming space where you can feel comfortable being your authentic self. Whether you are navigating a difficult period, seeking clarity around a diagnosis, adjusting a current treatment plan, or working toward long-term stability, I am committed to meeting you where you are and supporting you through the process. My approach is holistic and patient-centered, meaning I consider your individual goals, lifestyle, and experiences when developing a treatment plan. Together, we will focus on finding strategies and care options that best support your mental health and overall well-being.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, heard, and respected. I believe the best mental health care is collaborative, and I work closely with my patients so they feel informed and actively involved in their treatment. During our first appointment, we complete a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We will talk about your current concerns, symptoms, mental health, medical history, lifestyle factors, and any previous treatments or medications you may have tried. I may also ask about sleep, stress, relationships, and school or work, as these areas can significantly affect mental health. The diagnostic process is thoughtful and collaborative. Rather than relying on a single checklist, I look at patterns in your symptoms, how long they have been present, and how they impact your daily life. I also consider biological, psychological, and environmental factors. When helpful, I may use standardized screening tools to support the evaluation. Together, we will discuss possible diagnoses and develop a personalized treatment plan. Treatment may include medication management, lifestyle recommendations, and supportive psychotherapy. I typically incorporate brief psychotherapy during visits—about **40 minutes during intake and 20 minutes during follow-ups**—to better understand your emotional state and treatment goals. Because psychiatric visits are usually scheduled every 1–3 months, these sessions are not meant to replace regular therapy. I strongly encourage patients to establish care with a licensed mental health therapist for more frequent and in-depth support. I have clinical expertise in women’s mental health, pediatrics, adolescents, and LGBTQIA+ populations, and I welcome patients of all genders and backgrounds, ages 6 and older. I specialize in working with individuals with neurodiversity, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders, and I am committed to supporting patients from times of crisis to periods of stability and wellness.
