Getting to know Dr. Kelvin Okwudiogor

Feeling unheard by rushed appointments? Kelvin Okwudiogor, PMHNP, offers a different approach to psychiatric care. Mr. Okwudiogor is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides virtual psychiatric consultations and medication management through Calvary Health, serving teens, young adults, and adults. He treats a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and sleep issues. During every consultation, he listens attentively, explains diagnoses in clear terms, and develops personalized treatment plans built around each patient's needs and goals. Beyond medication management, he helps patients build healthy coping strategies and make lasting lifestyle changes. He earned his master's degree in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from Walden University. Patients trust his expertise because he consistently delivers positive, lasting health outcomes all through the convenience of virtual care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I strive to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly about your thoughts, emotions, and experiences. Your story matters, and you will be listened to with empathy and professionalism. Mental health care is a collaborative process, and I view you as an active partner in your treatment rather than a passive recipient of care. My approach is evidence-based and holistic, meaning I consider biological, psychological, social, and cultural factors when developing your treatment plan. When medication is part of care, I take time to explain options, benefits, risks, and side effects so you can make informed decisions. If therapy, lifestyle changes, or community resources are appropriate, these will also be discussed.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You deserve more than a rushed 10-minute med check that's why every visit here starts with genuinely listening to your story. We begin with a thorough psychiatric evaluation to understand your symptoms, history, and goals, whether you're struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, or sleep issues. From there, we build a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, always explained clearly so you know exactly what you're taking and why. We see teens, young adults, and adults, and every appointment is conducted virtually, so quality psychiatric care fits into your schedule, not the other way around. Follow-up visits are focused on tracking your progress, adjusting medications as needed, and making sure treatment is actually working not just maintaining a prescription. We take a collaborative approach, coordinating with your therapist or other providers when helpful so your care stays connected. Our goal is simple: help you feel heard, get an accurate diagnosis, and start feeling better without the long wait times typical of in-person psychiatry.
