Ketie Saintelus is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner, licensed by the state of New York to provide family-centered healthcare to patients of all ages. Her scope of practice encompasses health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and management of common and complex medical and psychiatric care problems.
Her journey into the profession began when she first migrated to the US in 1989 with her parents. A determined teenager focused on her studies, she graduated in 1999 from Mercy University, College of New Rochelle, with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. After realizing she wanted to do more for her patients, she returned to her studies and earned her Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration as an advanced practice nurse in family health from Long Island University in 2006. Noticing a rise in mental health issues, she pursued further education at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University, where she earned her Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
With nearly twenty-three years of nursing experience and education in various areas of patient care-both medical and psychiatric-Ketie also contributes to academia as an Assistant Professor at the Harriet Rothkopf Heilbrunn School of Nursing.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Ketie Saintelus has a unique combination of strong nursing skills and the provision of quality client care. Her professional philosophy centers on equality for all. Her goals in practice are to treat everyone with respect and fairness regardless of their behavior, religion, race, or economic status. Her true desire is to enhance a positive healing experience and confidence to those in need. This desire is evidenced by the work she has done volunteering and giving back to her community.
Ketie not only has a fulfilling professional career, but she has a fruitful family life. As a wife and mother of 4, when not working with patients or giving back to her community she can be found having dinner with friends or engaged in some type of fun activity, fundraising, enjoying life with family and or friends.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
The initial consultation lasted at least one hour where I obtained a comprehensive medical and psychiatry history. Once the problem is identified, a mutual treatment plan is generated and carried out . Each follow up visit lasted 30 minutes incorporated with talk therapy. This is accomplished either remotely on in person visit in a relaxed, warm, and friendly environment with a non-judgmental approach to all patients.

Ketie was very nice but I didn’t have a great experience. She interrupted me a few times, and I felt like she didn’t really listen to me because she kept reducing me to being hung up on what my ex was up to when I never said that I was. It seemed like she thought I was very naive, and the session felt like a lot of platitudes and not a lot of questions. Maybe that was just her first impression of me? It wasn’t a fit.
