About Kira Schachinger
For Ms. Schachinger (Kira), dermatology offers an ideal blend of patient interaction over time and the ability to provide a wide range of medical and cosmetic procedures. She appreciates the opportunity to serve rural communities in both New Hampshire and Vermont. Kira’s current interests focus on procedural treatments, cosmetic dermatology, laser treatments, and dermoscopy.
Kira earned a B.S. in Neuroscience from the University of Vermont and worked for several years in the Burlington area. During medical volunteer trips to South America, her desire and intent to become a provider came into focus. She went on to receive her M.P.A.S. from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (MCPHS University) in 2014.
Kira grew up among the ski hills, llamas, and rolling pastures of southern Vermont. When she moved to the Upper Valley, Kira immediately felt right at home. In her free time, Kira enjoys the natural wonders of New England with her husband and dog, especially hiking, biking, paddling, or skiing.

I think the Doctor and her assistants were extremely efficient and very knowledgeble. That said, I felt hurried through the process a little too quickly, which put me a little ill at ease. In fact, the PA had said there were some concerns on the upper part of my nose near the eye and things were happening so rapidly, I left before I realized those areas were never screened for skin cancer. It's no big deal, I can go back, but everything just felt super rushed and -- ergo -- though no one was rude, not the most comfortable of environs.

Kira/Dr. Schachinger was friendly, warm, approachable, and--most importantly--knowledgable about my concerns. She was the perfect mix of personable and professional. Took care of an enormous plantar wart on my foot (poor thing, it was nasty!) and I barely felt a thing. Also did a thorough skin check. Not condescending about sunscreen usage either... I didn't wear enough in my teens and I've got some age spots on my face to show for it! Unlike some other derms I've seen, she didn't patronize me about it. Overall, terrific experience and I'd highly recommend.

I am very upset that I have very good insurance from the state of CT but they want to bill VT or NH for my insurance. I explained that our insurance is from CT and the lady at the desk didn’t care. Why are you billing a state that has nothing to do with my insurance company.
