Dr. Konstantin Nikiforov, MD

Psychiatrist

Professional statement

**After you book your appointment on Zocdoc I will be reaching out to you by phone for an introduction in order for the appointment to proceed.** **I do NOT accept any commercial insurance. Fees are competitive for New York City and are insurance reimbursable. If you have “out-of-network-benefit” as a part of your insurance plan, services may be covered in full or in part. Please contact your provider to verify how your plan compensates you for psychiatric services.** **My practice does not specialize in the following groups of patients: children, adolescents and those seeking treatment for substance abuse** My strengths are my highly empathic and caring style multiplied by ample experience of working with a broad spectrum of clients in various clinical settings. I am easily available to all of my patients by phone and by text. Treatment partners / families are welcomed and in some cases are required. I am a optimistic supporter of a family inclusive treatment model when it is appropriate. Responding to my patients’ and my colleagues’ enthusiastic requests I have transferred into private clinical practice. Prior to that, I held a position of teaching and supervising various mental health professionals as Chief of an Inpatient Unit and a Director of an ECT Program at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Medical Center for 15 years. I also have extensive experience working in consultation, emergency and outpatient office psychiatry (offices in Tribeca and City Hall Park in Manhattan). I am an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.

I have been a huge fan of Dr. Nikiforov's thus far. A psychiatrist is someone you share very personal (often uncomfortable) information with - and so I spent months "interviewing" different providers prior to finding someone as knowledgableand empathetic as he. I appreciated his phone call prior to my consultation to ensure he could help, and I've been impressed by his making himself available to answer any questions I have. Highly recommend!

Dr. Nikiforov was the exact sort of doctor I was hoping to see - kind, thorough, and highly attentive. I had no problem opening up to him and I trust the plan we arrived at for my treatment. I've been seeingpositive improvements already and look forward to my next meeting with him.

I've seen many a mental health professional over the last 15 years. He made me feel comfortable, he was professional, but kind. He was understanding and not standoffish, like some are. highly recommend.

Dr Nikiforov is highly professional, experienced, with great bedside manner. He’s sensitive to the subtleties of depression, anxiety and bipolar illness. He does not pathologize or stigmatize people who are diagnosed, but rather sees thewhole person. As a professional in the field, I waded through many psychiatrists to find him and am relieved that he accepts my insurance. I can’t say enough positive things!
