Getting to know Kristin Wilczynski

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 17 years in various healthcare settings. I am honored to have patients trust me with their care. My style is warm, approachable, and collaborative. Together, we create personalized treatment plans that blend evidence-based care with practical tools to help you feel seen, heard, and empowered.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m friendly, approachable, and aim to make you feel at ease from the very first visit. I use warmth, humor, and genuine connection to create a comfortable space where you can be yourself. I build rapport quickly and, when appropriate, may share parts of my own mental health journey to help you feel understood and supported. My goal is for you to feel safe, heard, and like you have a partner in your care. I take a conservative approach to prescribing medication, using the lowest effective dose and only when truly necessary. My goal is for you to feel like yourself—not “medicated.” We will work together to find the right balance so you can feel well while staying true to who you are. To note: Colorado patients: I am not prescribing controlled medications at this time, to include ADHD treatment with stimulant medication (coming soon). Texas patients: I have a limited number of spots available for ADHD treatment with stimulant medication. I am currently full. Please inquire about non-stimulant medication options for ADHD.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I provide telehealth psychiatric care across Texas and Colorado. I have limited in-person availability upon request. Please inquire during the scheduling process. Our first session will be the most thorough, as I gather a detailed psychiatric and medical history. This is the most “clinical” visit, where we review your symptoms, discuss potential diagnoses, and create a personalized treatment plan. If medication is appropriate, we will go over your options, and I may order lab work to rule out medical conditions that can mimic mental health symptoms. When needed, I will recommend consultations with other specialists. I also offer genetic testing when clinically indicated—especially for patients who have tried multiple medications without success. This testing can guide individualized medication adjustments based on how your body metabolizes certain medications. You will never feel pressured into a treatment that makes you uncomfortable, and I always make time to address your questions and concerns. Follow-up appointments are a time for us to check in on your progress, discuss any concerns, and adjust your treatment plan as needed. If you are on medication, we will monitor its effectiveness and adjust the dosage if necessary. I typically see patients every 2–4 weeks during medication adjustments, then extend visits once we find the right balance for you. The maximum time between appointments is three months. While I am not a therapist, I incorporate brief supportive therapy and education into our sessions. I enjoy sharing tools from cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and other techniques to help with anxiety, panic attacks, and insomnia. My ultimate goal is for you to feel seen, heard, validated, and empowered as an active member of your treatment team.
