What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m a military wife and mom, have raised four children, and family is at the heart of everything I do. Currently my three year old hound dog, Goose, keeps me busy and on my toes. I love spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking, skiing, or just soaking up fresh air. Football season is a favorite time of year for me, especially when I get to cheer on my youngest son and his college team from the sidelines. Traveling and exploring new places with my family is something that always brings me joy. Nutrition and exercise are at the core of how I manage life’s stressors and maintain balance. I believe that caring for our bodies is a vital part of caring for our minds, and I encourage this same holistic approach with the individuals and families I work with. I’m passionate about breaking down the stigma around mental health and helping people feel seen, supported, and understood. I care deeply about making meaningful changes in how our communities approach substance use and treatment, giving a voice to those affected by domestic violence and family trauma, and advocating for the care and respect that military veterans truly deserve. These passions shape the way I connect with my patients—meeting each person with empathy, understanding, and a genuine commitment to helping them find hope, healing, and strength in their journey. -Krystal Nicole Shelton PMHNP, FNP
