Dr. Kurt Kristiansen began his career in medicine as a post-baccalaureate Registered Nurse, earning his BSN in Nursing from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. He initially worked in both Neuro and Cardiac ICUs in Louisville and Scottsdale, Arizona. To further counsel and support patients, he pursued advanced training and earned his Doctorate in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP) from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.
Having cared for a wide variety of patients as both a critical care nurse and psychiatric nurse practitioner, Dr. Kristiansen provides comprehensive care and treatment. He understands that mental health struggles can be just as serious as physical injuries and is dedicated to helping each of his patients overcome their difficulties.
Please note: Dr. Kurt Kristiansen is able to manage ADHD patients. Anyone wishing to see him for ADHD must submit or have documentation/testing at the time of the first appointment.

More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

I'm so happy that I found Dr. Kristiansen! I was initially very nervous about switching psychiatrists due to moving to a different state, but I was quickly put to ease during the appointment.
Dr. Kristiansen respected my wishes to maintain my current medications/treatment plan. He had clearly gone over my previous doctors' notes as well as the answers to the initial patient survey, which indicates to me that he values patient rapport. He was very easy to talk to and was professional (punctual and answered questions I asked on the patient portal in a timely manner). Setting up the appointment was simple and since the appointments are virtual, it's easy to fit them into my schedule.
