Marriage and Family Therapist
900 Ln Ave, Unit 126, Chula Vista, CA
The provider is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and is currently working under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Their current employer is HOPE Therapy Group. Hi, I'm Kylie Sreden (she/her) and I am an AMFT and an APCC. My approach to therapy is relational, trauma-informed, and grounded in compassion. I believe therapy should feel like a safe and authentic space, where humor curiosity, and self-discovery can coexist with healing. I draw from evidence-based practices like CBT, attachment-focused therapy, play therapy, and strength-based approaches to help clients navigate life's challenges, build emotional awareness, and connect with their values. My goal is to help clients feel understood, empowered, and capable of creating meaningful change at their own pace. I’m passionate about working with children, teens, and young adults who are navigating big emotions, life transitions, or identity exploration. My experience includes supporting foster and probation youth, as well as clients coping with trauma, ADHD, autism, anxiety, and depression. I also enjoy working with individuals who identify as neurodiverse or LGBTQ+, helping them feel seen, accepted, and supported in their unique experiences. With younger clients, I use a playful, creative, and relationship-based approach to help them express themselves and build emotional regulation skills. My goal is to create a space where clients of any age can feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I pull from attachment-based, trauma-informed, and CBT frameworks, but I never lose sight of the human side of therapy. I see clients as the experts of their own experience, while I’m just there to help shine a light on the patterns, strengths, and stories that matter most. I pay close attention to how culture, identity, and environment shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. My approach blends clinical tools with creativity, humor, and curiosity, helping clients make sense of what’s hard without losing sight of what’s hopeful. My work is rooted in an intersectional lens, acknowledging how factors like race, gender, sexuality, neurodiversity, and socioeconomic background interact to impact mental health. I strive to create a space where clients can explore not just who they are, but also how the world around them has shaped that understanding and how they can reclaim their voice within it. My style is collaborative, down-to-earth, and rooted in genuine connection. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I meet clients where they are, whether that means holding space for difficult emotions or gently challenging old patterns. I value curiosity, humor, and honesty in the therapy room, because growth often comes from real conversations rather than perfect ones. I see therapy as a space for clients to reconnect with their strengths, understand their story in a new way, and build tools that make life feel more manageable and meaningful.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a test. It should be accessible to everyone, no matter their background, identity, or starting point. I believe humor, honesty, and curiosity are powerful tools for healing and that growth happens when we feel seen, not judged. Clients can expect a space that’s equal parts supportive and real. I show up as myself, grounded, curious, and occasionally humorous and I encourage my clients to do the same. Sessions might include reflection, skill-building, creative interventions, or moments of honest conversation that invite insight and growth. I’m not the “sit-and-nod” kind of therapist; I’m active, engaged, and invested in helping you make sense of your experiences in a way that feels empowering and sustainable. My goal is for you to leave each session feeling seen, understood, and equipped with something you can carry into your everyday life, whether that’s a new skill, a fresh perspective, or simply a sense of relief that you don’t have to figure it all out alone.
