Lakeisha Walker

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
TX
If you’ve been holding everything together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, disconnected, or simply not like yourself on the inside, you deserve a space where you can be honest about what’s really going on. I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly a decade of nursing experience. My approach is warm, collaborative, practical, and judgment-free. I want to understand not just your symptoms, but your experiences, what matters to you, and what you want your life to feel like. I work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, sleep concerns, grief, burnout, and life transitions. My practice is affirming and welcoming to people from a wide range of backgrounds, identities, relationships, and life experiences, including LGBTQ+ clients and those in consensually non-monogamous relationships. When medication is appropriate, we’ll talk through your options together so you understand the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives and feel involved in the decision-making process. I believe treatment should fit your real life, not the other way around. My goal is for you to leave each visit feeling heard, respected, informed, and clear about what comes next.

Getting to know Lakeisha Walker

If you’ve been holding everything together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, disconnected, or simply not like yourself on the inside, you deserve a space where you can be honest about what’s really going on. I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with nearly a decade of nursing experience. My approach is warm, collaborative, practical, and judgment-free. What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, conversational, and collaborative. I want our visits to feel like a real conversation, not an interview or a checklist. I’ll ask questions to understand what you’re experiencing, how it’s affecting your day-to-day life, and what you would like to see change. I take a whole-person approach to care and believe you should be an active part of treatment decisions. We’ll talk openly about your options, including medication when appropriate, and make a plan together that feels realistic for your life. I also incorporate supportive therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and solution-focused strategies when helpful. Sometimes that means identifying patterns, challenging thoughts that are keeping you stuck, building practical coping skills, or simply having a safe place to talk through what’s been weighing on you. You don’t need to have everything figured out before your appointment. Come as you are. You can expect a judgment-free space where you don’t have to censor or over-explain important parts of who you are or how you live.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session starts with us checking in on what’s been going on since your last visit and what feels most important to address that day. I’ll ask about your mood, anxiety, sleep, focus, stress, medication response, side effects, and anything else that may be affecting how you’re functioning. We’ll review what’s working, what isn’t, and whether anything needs to change. If medication is part of your treatment, we’ll talk through the options together rather than making changes without explaining the why behind them. Depending on what you need that day, we may also spend time identifying patterns, working through a current stressor, building coping strategies, or using supportive therapy, CBT-based techniques, motivational interviewing, or solution-focused approaches. My goal is for each session to feel focused but not rushed, and for you to leave knowing what the plan is, why we chose it, and what the next steps are. You never have to come in with a perfect update or know exactly what to talk about—we can figure out where to start together.

More information on payments and coverage

I offer both insurance and self-pay options. If you’re using insurance, your copay, coinsurance, or deductible is determined by your health plan, and coverage can vary based on your specific benefits. Self-pay is also available, and a limited reduced-fee program may be available for eligible clients. Payment is due before your scheduled appointment. If you plan to use insurance, I recommend confirming your behavioral health benefits directly with your insurance company so you understand your expected costs. I’m also happy to help explain the billing process so there are as few surprises as possible.
