I made Dr. Chin my PCP because of his wonderful reviews. To say that I was disappointed following my check-up with him would be a severe understatement. I was seen first by a wonderful nurse, who told me Dr. Chin would tend to me promptly. After waiting a short time, the door opened and in came a resident doctor. She was kind, but not very helpful. After speaking to her for a little bit, she told me she’d get Dr. Chin (since I told her the area around my heart was hurting). She came back in a moment with the doctor. He asked me the same vague questions she did, and without further analysis, chalked it up as muscular tension. He may very well be right, but my interaction with him lasted for under 30 seconds. He left after briefly telling me “we’d perform some tests”. I was sent off to a lab in another part of the hospital, not knowing for what or why. The lab technician had to explain me what blood tests she was performing, but even she was unsure. Following the blood draws, I felt completely unguided. I wasn’t sure if I was meant to return to Dr. Chin or just leave. There was no confirmation of such from anyone. So I returned to the front desk and asked her if Dr. Chin was still to see me. She called him and he told her that I was done, and that I could go home. Profoundly confused, I simply left. I have never had a doctor expedite me in that fashion before. Throughout the entire experience I felt unguided and unheard. The area around my heart still hurts. I have a list of unanswered questions. And I will be changing my PCP from Dr. Chin to somebody else. I am certain that in general he is a great doctor, however, in my case, he did not even spend the time to learn about me.
