What should a new client know about working with you?

You pay unmet deductibles. Ask your insurance about your deductible. No Medicare/Medicaid/Affordable Care Act Health Plans i.e. CVS Caremark/Baylor Scott & White. Texas and Virginia insurances accepted. No shows and cancellations may incur a fee. No controlled substances (i.e. Adderall, Vyvanse, Xanax, Ativan). No FMLA/LOA/Disability/workers comp paperwork. Working with a psychiatrist is a collaborative process designed to support your mental health and well-being. Confidentiality is a core part of psychiatric care, allowing you to share personal thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment or breach of privacy. It’s important to have clear treatment goals and expectations—whether you're looking to manage symptoms, improve coping skills, or work through specific issues, communicating these objectives helps shape your care. Open communication is essential. Be honest about your experiences so your psychiatrist can fully understand your unique situation and offer the most effective support. Together, you’ll create a personalized treatment plan, which may include therapy, medication, and lifestyle recommendations tailored to your needs. If medications are involved, medication management is key. Learn about the benefits and possible side effects, and keep your psychiatrist informed of any changes in how you feel. Don’t hesitate to ask questions if anything is unclear—understanding your treatment empowers you to take an active role in your care. Regularly monitor progress and share feedback about what's working or needs adjustment. Be patient with the process, as healing and building trust takes time. Rapport and trust are foundational to effective therapy, and it's okay to seek the right professional fit. Know how to access crisis support when urgent help is needed, and always respect boundaries, including scheduled appointments and communication policies, to maintain a healthy therapeutic relationship.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The process of working with clients as a psychiatrist typically involves several key steps to ensure effective assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. Here is a general outline of the typical process: The first step is the initial meeting with the client, where the psychiatrist gathers relevant information about the client's medical history, psychological history, current concerns, and any symptoms they may be experiencing. This helps the psychiatrist understand the client's background and develop a diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to their specific needs. Based on the information collected during the initial assessment and any additional evaluations or tests, the psychiatrist makes a diagnosis. A diagnosis is an essential part of the process as it guides the treatment approach and helps the client understand their condition. After establishing a diagnosis, the psychiatrist collaborates with the client to create a comprehensive treatment plan. This plan may include medication management, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, other interventions based on the client's needs, and crisis management. Collaboration with Other Professionals: Psychiatrists often work as part of a larger healthcare team. They may collaborate with psychologists, social workers, counselors, and other medical professionals to provide comprehensive care for their clients. Regular Follow-ups: Regular follow-up appointments are crucial to monitor the client's progress, assess the effectiveness of the treatment plan, and make any necessary adjustments. The frequency of follow-ups depends on the severity of the client's condition and their response to treatment. Termination/Aftercare Planning: When the client has made significant progress, the psychiatrist will work with them to plan the termination of treatment or transition to a lower level of care. This may involve referrals to other professionals or community resources for ongoing support.

The office reached out to me mid day before to reschedule then charged me like $150 for a cancelation fee. No prior attendance issues, this is very shady.

This was my first time meeting with a psychiatrist, so I was very nervous. Dr. LNM spoke calmly, she laughed with me, reassured me, really got to know me and why I was coming to see her. She listened and when she came up with a plan for me/us, she repeated it and explained why this was the plan. I felt so relieved and happy after my appointment with her, I feel so lucky that I found her!

Was a no show for an appointment as she was out on vacation and took no responsibility for it. I needed her assistance with disability and fmla form completion and she was slow to respond. She then discharged me from her practice without notice after inquiring about a billing issue and asking to update clinical information she provided to my disability claim that contained confidential workplace issues within it. Unprofessional avoid at all costs.

My provider was great, but I had three different companies asking for my insurance and billing info prior to the appointment, ZocDoc being one of them. This made things extremely confusing and ended with my first appointment getting cancelled. It was extremely frustrating. Eventually the provider and I figured it out, but ZocDoc made it very difficult to do so.
