Dr. Laura Davidson is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Rhode Island who has been practicing since 2011. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Nursing from the University of Arizona, and both her Master's in Nursing with a focus in Psychiatric Mental Health and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Arizona State University. Behavioral health medications work best when combined with self-kindness, adequate sleep, and setting aside a little special time just for you. In Dr. Davidson's experience, people seem to struggle the most with self-kindness. When we are struggling with low mood and anxiety, our inner critic becomes louder and meaner. The inner critic can be quite destructive, so it is important to decrease its power. Dr. Davidson believes it is massively important that clients fully participate in treatment decisions. She will present medication options, and you will choose what feels right for you. She can also assist you in tapering off mental health medications you no longer want to be on. Her options will be evidence based. Dr. Davidson enjoys client education; knowledge is truly empowering. Outside of work, she enjoys making jewelry, meandering around in nature, and playing a trading card game.
