About Laura Flanagan
Laura Flanagan, MSN, WHNP-BC, is a licensed and Board-certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner. She was born in New York City and raised in Fairfield County, Connecticut. She graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She then worked in finance in downtown Manhattan while volunteering as a sexual assault crisis counselor at Mount Sinai Hospital. After three years, she embraced her passion for women’s health and returned to school to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner. She completed her clinical training and Master of Science in Nursing degree at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Laura joined The Woman’s Health Pavilion in 2020.

Wait time here is always horrendous. Left in the room unattended or checked in, have to wait over 30mins before someone comes and sees you, if this is the case why not let people stay in the waiting area instead undressed in the cold and not able to check in with the staff how long the doctor or nurse will be.

The front staff was very pleasant. In addition, the nurse was nice. However, I observed a number of people who came into the office after my appointment time and was seen before me. I was told that there were two providers in the office and that my provider was behind schedule.

Dr. Flanagan was amazing. I was terrified as this was my first women’s exam and she walked me through everything as she was doing the procedures. She asked me of my concerns or anything I was worried about. The nurse that helped her out was very caring and she even wiped my tears as I was really scared since this was my first time. I will recommend Dr. Flanagan to all my girl friends. Thank you for being patient and caring.

I had an appointment in the afternoon and the Doctor I came to see was very nice. She was informative and helpful to addressing my main concern.
However, my issue is with the woman that showed me to my room. She asked if I wanted to get my annual today and I said “no”. Then hands me a gown to take off my bra and top. I misheard and thought it was my bottoms since most times at OB/GYN office that is what happens. Then she stated “is that what I just told you?” which is condescending and rude. Then I ask “what is the breast exam for?” She then says “the breast exam is required for a birth control refill”. I was confused by that because I have never needed a breast exam for a birth control refill.
The NP comes to my room very polite and helped me figure out the best birth control to meet my lifestyle. Then, I ask her “why was I told to take off my top for a breast exam?”. Then the NP stated “oh that’s only necessary if you were doing your annual today”. So the nurse that walked me in ignored my request to not get it done and then gives me this other irrelevant reason why I should undergo a breast exam. I felt the nurse was extremely misleading and rude. When it comes to someone’s health it is important to be transparent and honest. I have had an issue with the nurses before at the office but never the doctor/NP themselves. I wish I remembered the nurses name to insert here but next time I will pay closer attention.
