Getting to know Lauren Tableman

"It is truly the privilege of a lifetime to become who you truly are." ? Carl Jung One's mental health affects every area of life, and most of us know that to be true. Some people find their symptoms impact them more than others, but everyone's struggles are significant and deserve attention. From the time I started college, I knew I wanted to work in mental health. I still know this is a calling because when I'm speaking with someone who is suffering at any level, the rest of the world fades away in that moment. If I can help even one person move toward living their ideal life-not anyone else's-I will have done my job. We only have one life, and no one can make our decisions or live it for us, but I am here to offer a helping hand. I hold a Master's degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the State University of New York, Stony Brook, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you on your journey. Schedule your appointment, and we can talk.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal as your mental health provider is to help alleviate the symptoms you are finding troubling, and get you feeling well again as quickly as possible. When speaking with you, I prefer to give you my undivided attention, instead of staring at the computer screen or down at my paper all throughout the visit. With that being said, I work best gathering and documenting all you have to tell me at the beginning, and then listening to you with an empathetic ear and having an open dialogue for the remainder of the session. I have been told that while I'm gathering all the necessary information from you in the beginning of the visit that I can present as "all business". I assure you that once that's all out of the way, we will have an engaging conversation as I want to be able to give you my undivided attention, instead of worrying about writing or typing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I will start with a free 15-min phone screening to see if I may be a good fit for you. If we decide to move forward, we will schedule your initial visit which will be approximately 60-75 minutes at a time that we are both available. All follow-up visits will be approximately 30-45 minutes where will discuss how you're feeling on your medications, as well as any other concerns that you may have.
