What should a new client know about working with you?

First and foremost, I uphold the belief that YOU are the focal point of your care and YOUR goals and beliefs are what help US develop a treatment plan that optimizes the likelihood of your ultimate success. I aim to provide you with the safest and most efficacious treatment regimen that suits your lifestyle, parallels your personal beliefs about health and wellness, and doesn't threaten to deteriorate your identity, energy or who you are. As a thirty year Army nurse and practitioner veteran, I've had the honor and privilege in caring for individuals from all over the world thus different cultural backgrounds. Because of these unique and highly cherished experiences I offer a source of compassion and understanding beyond standard university curricula and advocate and subscribe to a broader range of treatment approaches and ideology to hopefully engage in activities that suit your unique needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When we have the opportunity to meet, we will spend about an hour getting to know each other. While I ask a vast amount of questions, one is never obligated to answer any question. However, the questions I ask are tailored to get to know you so I can understand your unique needs and beliefs so we can develop the best plan for you. Information shared with me is kept confidential in our electronic health system and serves as a tool to keep the trajectory of your healing moving forward. Respectfully, certain circumstances render your confidentially void-those include thoughts of harming or killing yourself, thoughts of harming or killing others, report abuse towards you or abuse delivered by you towards another individual or if you present in an unstable state and it is determined that immediate medical or psychiatric intervention is needed at the time of our visit. At all times, every effort is made to maintain your dignity and privacy. Your transparency about your physical and psychiatric health history is imperative if you are to succeed and I can be trusted to honor and respect the information you provide. Please consider any history of alcohol or drug use-these are important components of one's history that are necessary to divulge in order to strategize the safest medications and treatment methods. Providing a detailed list of previous medications, dosages and prescribers will facilitate identifying most appropriate medications as well. Future appointments are, again, geared toward your personal needs. I typically follow up once every two to four weeks when we start new treatments and as stabilization is reached, appointments can extend further out. NEVER are you expected to partake of an aspect of care that you are unsure about, don't feel comfortable with or don't understand. YOU are only expected to be open and honest about your compliance, feelings and fears about treatment so we can ensure delivery of the best care.
