About Dr. Lawrence Shulman

Lawrence Shulman, DO, holds multiple titles within Optum, including Chief Medical Officer, Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Division Chief, and Medical Director for the Sleep Center. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology, New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Shulman completed both his internship and fellowship at North Shore University Hospital. He is Board Certified in Pulmonary Medicine, Sleep Medicine, Critical Care, and Internal Medicine. Since joining the organization in 2006, Dr. Shulman has built a career centered on advocating for patients and colleagues. Beyond patient care, he led the organization through the early stages of electronic health record implementation, culminating in EPIC integration. Additionally, Dr. Shulman played an instrumental role in guiding the organization through the COVID pandemic and currently serves as Chief Medical Officer.

I was really disappointed with this office. I showed up for my appointment and was told I couldn’t be seen because of a copay issue something nobody mentioned before I came in. When I asked why they didn’t call to let me know, the answer felt cold and dismissive, I even offered to see my insurance card and it was refused to even look at my insurance card to verify coverage, which felt extremely dismissive. I check on my app from my insurance company and it says same name of doctor and same location it’s accepted in my network. I left feeling frustrated and disrespected. Then they started calling me afterward, but at that point, it just felt insincere. Patients deserve clear communication and respect for their time. I won’t be going back

The staff greeted me and checked me in immediately. The nurse called me in less than 2 mins. and took my vital signs. she was professional and very nice. Dr. Shulman was amazing and asked great questions allowed me to ask questions and participate in the best treatment course to take for me. Gave great suggestions and suggestions.
