What should a new client know about working with you?

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, safe, and nonjudgmental environment where your concerns are heard and respected. My priority is to ensure you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning. We will work together to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include therapy and medication management .

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When you meet with me, my goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, heard, and not rushed. Your first session is usually a bit longer. I’ll ask about what’s been going on for you—your mood, stress, sleep, medical history, and anything else that feels relevant. We’ll also talk about your background and what you’ve already tried, if anything. You don’t need to prepare anything formal—just come as you are. As we talk, I’m listening for patterns and putting together a diagnostic picture based on your symptoms, history, and clinical guidelines. Sometimes that’s clear in the first visit; other times, we take a little more time to fully understand what’s going on. I may use brief questionnaires to help guide us, but most of the process is conversational. At the end of that visit, we’ll talk through what I’m seeing and discuss next steps. If medication might help, I’ll explain your options, what to expect, and answer any questions so you can make an informed decision. If therapy is important for your care, we’ll talk about that too. In follow-up visits, we’ll check in on how you’re feeling, what’s improving, and what still needs attention. If you’re taking medication, we’ll monitor how it’s working and make adjustments if needed. I do incorporate talk therapy into our sessions, especially to help with coping strategies, stress, and understanding patterns in your thoughts and behaviors. Depending on your needs, I may also recommend working with a therapist for more in-depth, ongoing therapy. Above all, this is a collaborative process. You’re not expected to have everything figured out—part of my role is to help you make sense of what you’re experiencing and support you in finding what works best for you.
