Getting to know Lazaro Gafas
Do you need help or guidance? Let's work together! Lazaro Gafas has been working in the field of psychiatry and mental health since 2016. His experiences in mental health began long before any of his studies. Lazaro saw firsthand how mental illness (Major Depressive Disorder) affected his mother, who sadly passed away in 2019. "I saw how mental illness consumed her, how it impacted our family, and how if left untreated can destroy and leave psychological scars." Lazaro earned his Master’s in Nursing from the University of Miami, which has further equipped him to provide compassionate and effective care. He seeks to treat each one of his clients with the same empathy and understanding that he would his mother. "I'm hopeful we can work on this together!"

At Miami Mental Health, patients can expect to be heard. Each client will receive individualized care which will best serve them in their moment of need. I'm invested in helping you feel your very best by supporting your personal growth, insight and self-empowerment.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
If you or your loved one is having difficulties with depression, insomnia, attention, concentration, anxiety, mood swings or if you are in need of guidance regarding a life issue. Initially was very scared to even begin talking in our session due to my own anxiety and he reassured me and allowed me to open up at my own pace! He took the time to understand what’s been going on with me and the time to explain the medications to me before prescribing anything. I always regret appts I make the day of which is prolly a symptom from my anxiety but I really needed to talk with someone in regard to my issue and I am extremely happy.
