Lazaro Gafas NP is a nationally dual board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health and Family Nurse Practitioner. He began his career as a medical provider practicing primary care in the city of Hialeah, providing care to minorities and low-income populations. Afterwards, he relocated to the Altamonte Springs area in North Orlando to train and work in the field of Urology. In Orlando, he managed the Men's Health clinic, treating conditions such as hypogonadism (low testosterone) and erectile dysfunction (ED).
After years in Orlando practicing Urology and Primary Care, he decided to relocate to his native Miami to be closer to family. After a short time, he returned to Primary Care to expand the patient population and bring his expertise to the field of Urology. The pandemic brought many challenges to people, increasing the need to provide mental health services to the community. This inspired him to seek further education and become board-certified in mental health to provide these essential services.
Noticing a need in the community for affordable, accessible, and personable care, he opened his Mental Health Care telehealth practice, serving the state of Florida via telehealth. Here, he integrates mental health with primary care to provide comprehensive care. By offering affordable low-cost monthly membership plans, he aims to close the mental health care gap by providing accessible and personable care to each patient.

As a South Florida native, Lazaro Gafas NP earned his Master's in Family Nursing from the University of Miami, graduating at the top of his class with a scholarship. Today, Lazaro is privileged and honored to practice in his hometown of Miami, FL.

Do you need help or guidance? Let's work together! Lazaro Gafas has been working in the field of psychiatry and mental health since 2016. His experiences in mental health began long before any of his studies. Lazaro saw firsthand how mental illness (Major Depressive Disorder) affected his mother, who sadly passed away in 2019. "I saw how mental illness consumed her, how it impacted our family, and how if left untreated can destroy and leave psychological scars". Lazaro seeks to treat each one of his clients with the same empathy and understanding that he would his mother. "I'm hopeful we can work on this together!"
More information on payments and coverage
Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
