What should a new client know about working with you?

I am well-versed in current research trends and practice using evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and anxiety, Dialectical Behavior Therapy for emotion dysregulation and interpersonal difficulties, Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD, and prolonged exposure for trauma and phobias.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session consists of a semi-structured intake where I will explain office policies and how sessions are generally structured. I will also ask you questions about your current functioning and history. Together, we will discuss goals for therapy and create a plan to meet those goals. I will assist you in learning how to identify unhelpful, automatic thoughts and restructure those thoughts into more helpful ones. Everyone experiences upsetting, stressful, and anxiety-provoking times in life, and my goal is to teach you skills that you can utilize throughout your life, beyond the therapy room. I also have experience as a school psychologist and work to guide parents in accessing special education services for their children. I help parents help their children through a parent management training framework that fosters healthy attachment with appropriate boundaries.
