Getting to know Leann Bauernfeind
I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care with a focus on understanding the whole person—not just a diagnosis. Every individual has a unique story, and I believe effective treatment begins with taking the time to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and build a genuine therapeutic relationship.
I work with adolescents and adults experiencing concerns such as depression, anxiety, ADHD, mood disorders, trauma-related symptoms, sleep difficulties, and life transitions. Treatment is individualized and may include medication management, supportive psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and discussion of advanced treatment options when appropriate.
My goal is to create a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where patients feel comfortable being honest about their experiences. I believe the best outcomes come from collaboration, trust, and shared decision-making, and I strive to ensure every patient feels heard, understood, and actively involved in developing a treatment plan that fits their goals and values.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Your first appointment is designed to be a conversation, not just a checklist. I take time to understand your symptoms, your history, what has and hasn't worked in the past, and what you're hoping to achieve through treatment. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all approach, we'll work together to develop a treatment plan that aligns with your goals, preferences, and lifestyle.
I value honesty, open communication, and shared decision-making. My goal is for every patient to leave their appointment feeling heard, respected, and with a clear understanding of the next steps in their care.
What is your typical process for working with clients?

To provide safe, thorough, and high-quality psychiatric care, some concerns require an **initial in-person evaluation**.
If your primary reason for scheduling is:
* A request for a **controlled medication** (including stimulant medications), or
* Completion of **FMLA, Leave of Absence (LOA), disability, work accommodation, school accommodation, or similar paperwork**,
your appointment may need to be changed to an **in-person visit** before we can proceed.
If you are transferring care and are currently prescribed a controlled medication, please indicate this when scheduling so we can determine the most appropriate appointment type.
Our office may contact you before your appointment to confirm the reason for your visit and ensure you are scheduled appropriately.

Honestly would not recommend. None of the forms that I took a lot of time filling out were read. She spoke very negatively about the medication I was current taking and prescribed by two separate doctors. She left me hanging without another good alternative. Also, I spent time to send over the other doctor references which were ignored or nothing was acted upon. Do not waste your time. Also, random but did not look anything like the photo...

Overall I got what I needed from the appointment which was a prescription refill for medication I’ve been taking for a year. However, I did not like some things she mentioned/advised that weren’t pertinent to my mental health and meditation.

The office and staff that we were in contact with great. Unfortunately, the therapist i booked was not in our network even though Zocdoc said they were. So a 50 minute drive was almost for nothing. The front desk woman was great and the "medicine giving" therapist was great.
