Dr, Gilmore is very engaging and listened to my questions and concerns. I was able to get x-rays right away in the same place which is great. We reviewed the results and came up with options for me to consider based on my preference and finances. I appreciate the honesty about costs and how the doctor is willing to work within my budget. I felt seen and understood by the doctor and his team. The building itself is older, but everything was spotless. I’m thrilled with how this appointed went and plan to continue attending this practice. ”

About Dr. Leland Gilmore
Dr. Leland Gilmore is a compassionate, experienced foot and ankle specialist who has been serving in Alexandria, VA and the Northern Virginia community with high quality podiatric care for more than 25 years.
After earning his degree studying biochemistry as an undergraduate at the University of Maryland, Dr. Gilmore went on to earn his doctorate in podiatric medicine from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Independence, OH. He completed his podiatric medicine and surgery residency training at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Baltimore.
After obtaining his license, Dr. Gilmore has continued to seek opportunities to expand his education, experience, and training so he can provide his patients with the highest level of service and care. He is board certified by three separate podiatric medicine and surgery boards, including the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
Dr. Gilmore is affiliated with, and has surgical privileges at, a number of area hospitals, including Inova Mount Vernon Hospital and Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. He founded Capital Podiatry Associates in 1993 and has been in private, independent practice ever since.
Lowering the barriers of entry and making it as easy as possible for patients to get the care they need have always been extremely important to Dr. Gilmore.
A passionate sports fan and former collegiate athlete, Dr. Gilmore serves on several area athletic and booster boards and has coached competitive youth teams in football, basketball, and soccer. He and his wife have two daughters who are also active in competitive athletics.

Everything was good except he prescribed a medication that I cannot take as I am allergic to is primary ingredient, aspirin. Good think I read the label!

Dr Gilmore and his staff are super attentive, personable, and professional. I highly recommend Dr Gilmore. He is very knowledgeable of foot problems and his office is fully functional with X-ray and laser equipment. He seems to generally care about his patients’ wellbeing.
It takes awhile to get an initial appointment which is understandable in our area. The wait time before being seen by the doctor was about 30 minutes which again didn’t bother me.
