What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, collaborative, and straightforward. I want you to feel comfortable sharing your concerns, asking questions, and being honest about what is or is not working. Together, we will identify your priorities and develop realistic treatment goals. I use a supportive, person-centered approach that emphasizes education, practical coping strategies, and your active participation in care. When medication is appropriate, I explain its potential benefits, risks, and alternatives so we can make informed decisions together. During your first visit, we will discuss your symptoms, mental health and medical history, previous treatments, and any struggles or life stressors affecting your mental health. We will also explore your goals for treatment. You do not need to have everything figured out before we meet. Please bring a current medication list and any relevant treatment records, if available. Follow-up visits focus on your progress, medication response, any side effects, and adjustments to your treatment plan. I encourage open communication and regular follow-up so your care continues to reflect your needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach begins with creating a welcoming, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable sharing your concerns. During our initial appointment, I take time to understand your symptoms, mental health history, current challenges, previous treatments, and the ways these experiences affect your well-being. Together, we explore your treatment goals and develop an individualized care plan based on your needs and preferences. My approach combines evidence-based psychiatric care, medication management when appropriate, supportive therapeutic interventions, and patient education. I believe in explaining treatment options clearly so you can make informed decisions about your care. During follow-up appointments, we review your progress, discuss any concerns or medication side effects, and adjust your treatment plan as needed. Throughout the process, I emphasize open communication, collaboration, and a compassionate approach that respects your experiences, values, and cultural background. My goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and actively involved in your journey toward improved mental health and emotional well-being.
