Dr. Lilly Simon, PsyD

Psychologist
NY
Life can feel overwhelming when anxiety, trauma, insomnia, or intrusive thoughts interfere with daily life. I work collaboratively with clients to develop practical skills, explore patterns that shape how they relate to themselves, and create a safe, supportive space to feel heard and move toward a more fulfilling life. I work with adults and adolescents facing a range of challenges, including anxiety, trauma, OCD, insomnia, psychosis, mood disorders, identity exploration, and life transitions. I view therapy as a collaborative process, grounded in a strong therapeutic relationship and tailored to each person’s unique needs and goals. In sessions, I strive to create a space where clients feel understood, supported, and comfortable being themselves. From this foundation, we work on concrete strategies to navigate present challenges while also exploring the deeper patterns and experiences that shape how clients relate to themselves and others. I provide therapy rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients develop practical skills for managing distress, improving functioning, and building more fulfilling lives. I also offer Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Prolonged Exposure (PE)- two of the gold-standard treatments for PTSD, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi).

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and tailored to each individual. In our first few sessions, we’ll focus on getting to know you—your history, current challenges, and what’s bringing you to therapy—while also identifying your goals and what you’d like to change or better understand. A typical session is a conversation where you have space to speak openly at your own pace. I may ask questions to help clarify patterns, explore emotions, and connect past experiences to what’s happening in the present. Depending on your needs, we might focus on developing coping strategies, improving relationships, working through difficult emotions, or gaining insight into recurring thoughts and behaviors. I integrate evidence-based approaches with a flexible, person-centered style. Some sessions may be more reflective and insight-oriented, while others may be more structured and skills-focused. Throughout the process, I aim to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes.
