Hello! My name is Lily Kurtz, and I am a doctorate level Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who offers both in-person and virtual sessions in New York City. I specialize in making the complex world of mental health feel a little less daunting and a lot more manageable, and will make sure you understand the “why” behind any and all treatment options. I am available for individual psychotherapy, medication management, or a combination of both for teens and adults. I work with people dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and challenges at home, school or work. One of my specializations is working with current and former athletes struggling with mental health symptoms or looking to improve mental wellness in general. With my athletes I pay special attention to the timing of medication regimens, track biometrics such as HRV, and utilize knowledge of the athletic experience to ensure clients don't feel pressured to choose between mental wellness or peak performance.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I earned my Doctorate in Psychiatric Nursing Practice from Columbia University, and received additional training during a post-doctoral fellowship in neurodevelopmental psychiatry at Graymatters Medical Practice. I often utilize my degree in Cognitive Brain Science from Tufts University to inform my treatment planning- as it allows me to recognize the complex interplay of biological, psychological, and social factors impacting my clients' mental health. This comprehensive perspective allows me to provide tailored care that addresses the unique needs of each patient. Within sessions, I work to help my clients develop their own self-advocacy skills, but I am also committed to supporting my clients outside of the therapy room through my own advocacy work. I am currently involved with the non-profit Athletes for Hope as both a research committee member and an athlete mental health research fellow. Through the fellowship, I am committed to studying the challenges athletes face and developing solutions that support wellbeing in sport and life. Through Athletes for Hope, I am also a member of the Athlete Mental Health Alliance (which aims to create a collective effort to advance non-profit work for athletes) and a member of the athlete research committee (which informs policy initiatives to amplify athletes’ voices demanding change related to improving athlete mental health).

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I believe in meeting you where you are, without judgment. My goal is to help you tackle whatever life throws your way with practical, evidence-based strategies and a touch of levity. Laughter is a powerful tool, and I often incorporate humor into sessions to help ease tension and build a genuine connection. My clients have expressed appreciation for my ability to make them feel at ease while maintaining a focus on achieving effective outcomes. My approach is both collaborative and holistic, focusing on understanding your individual needs and goals. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan that may include therapy, medication management, or a combination of both to help you thrive.

Out-of-pocket fees and assistance
Ongoing session: $200-550 for 50 minutes
  • Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay
  • Files your insurance claim: You pay the session fee upfront and the provider files the claim for you, so you can get reimbursed directly without worrying about the paperwork
  • Charges post-reimbursement amount: This provider will only charge you for the amount you pay after you get reimbursed from your insurance plan, so you don’t need to pay the session fee upfront

More information on payments and coverage

Bryant West Psychology works with most insurance plans (whether in-network or out-of-network) to make the financials easy, hassle-free, and paper-work-free for you. We can bill your insurance for you, and you can pay us any deductibles and co-pays by credit card or through Zelle, as well as the old-fashioned ways, such as check or cash. In-Network: Our clinicians are providers in the following networks: Aetna and its affiliated insurances (Allied Benefit Systems - Aetna, Christian Brothers Services - Aetna, Health Scope - Aetna, Meritain, Nippon, Trustmark ) and student health insurance at NYU, Columbia, New School, and Fordham. Your in-network insurance company sets our fees, co-pays, and deductibles, making our service more affordable. We will discuss this with you. Out-of-Network: We bill all insurance companies, such as United Health Care, Oxford, Cigna, Blue Cross/Shield, and Beacon (to name a few). Depending on your plan, your insurance may pay up to 80% of our fee (and sometimes more). We will do our best to work with you to make payment arrangements that won't break the bank—that is, your bank.
