Getting to know Dr. Limor Kaufman-Balamuth

Welcome to my profile. Please note that when you book with me, I want to talk to you on the phone before we meet. Please reach out to the number provided in the confirmation message. I have been working as a psychologist for about 30 years and am delighted to help my patients grow and expand their lives. I combine a unique set of skills: the deep knowledge of a psychologist and psychoanalyst, with the “hands-on” skills of a coach. I am eclectic in my approach, using any of my many tools to target and resolve troubling issues. That means we can identify the roots of many challenges while coming up with practical strategies to help you grow. I offer individual psychotherapy, couples counseling, coaching, and consulting to organizations. My approach to couples therapy includes EFT, identifying the negative patterns in the couples and helping them elimimate it together hile helping them work through emotional and physical intimacy, parenting, and financial challenges. My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, ADHD, and relationship difficulties for individuals and couples at any stage of life. I am interested in and skilled at addressing cross-cultural elements, having a dual perspective as an Israeli-American. I also treat work-related issues through both psychotherapy and coaching. I hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University, a certificate from the Ackerman Institute for Family Therapy, a Certificate in Couples Therapy from the William Alanson White Institute, and a certificate from New York University. I run an Executive Coaching group for work-related coaching every other Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8:00 pm and have a few spots open. Write me to see if that will be a good fit for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I combine many skills as a therapist, psychoanalyst, coach, academic, and couples therapist, using a custom made approach to what my patients are trying to achieve. I work collaboratively with my patient to establish their goals.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We start with a consultation, or a few of them, meeting and exploring what you are coming for and figuring out what it is like for you to talk to me, and if you feel safe, comfortable, engaged, excited by a new perspective and hopeful that I can help you. Then we start the work, or rather continue it. I strongly believe that I can be very helpful in many ways, but it is best to feel it once we meet. Therapy is a way to facilitate your emotional growth, beyond the particular issues that bring you to look for a therapist at this very moment, so we can work in a focused way, or bring a wider perspective to your total expereince depending on what you are looking for. Write me for more details.

Limor is an excellent therapist. I continue to meet her on a regular basis because she helps me tremendiously. I really recommend to meet Limor at least once, as she defenitly impacted what I came to work on.
Dr. Kaufman is an excellent couples therapist. Non judgemental and insightful, Dr. Kaufman is empathetic and relatable without being afraid to challenge either partner. She was very skilled at extracting the underlying issues in our relationship and helped us to address them head on. Highly recommended for those facing difficulties in their relationship.
