Getting to know Dr. Linda Grad

** PLEASE BE AWARE THIS IS AN OUT OF NETWORK PRACTICE ** I AM PROVIDING TELEHEALTH SERVICES DUE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK I have a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from The School of Psychology at Florida Institute of Technology and a Master's in Psychology from The Graduate Faculty at the New School for Social Research. I am also a member of American Psychology Association, New York State Psychological Association and Manhattan Society of Clinical Hypnosis, and am certified in hypnosis from The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis. In my practice, I work with individuals, couples, children, and adolescents. I help patients to lose weight, quit smoking, manage anger and stress, improve self-esteem, and overcome phobias. I also work with patients on a variety of other issues including, but not limited to, depression, obsessional thoughts (OCD), compulsive behaviors, insomnia, marital problems, and PTSD. I aim to help my patients form better habits in their daily routines to improve happiness and energy levels. I use a combination of psychotherapy and hypnotherapy to garner an understanding in my patients of how and why bad habits have formed and how we can promote change through enhanced self-awareness, more effective coping skills, and the confidence to integrate these techniques.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer patients a safe, supportive and non-judgmental therapeutic space to help identify and change areas of concern and stress. My approach may include a variety of techniques such as solution-focused, eclectic, interactive, CBT and psychodynamic along with hypnotherapeutic/relaxation techniques to reduce distressing symptoms and is tailored to the needs of each individual.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical initial session will focus on listening to what stressors and symptoms interfere with daily functioning and gaining knowledge of a patient's history and any efforts that have been tried to deal with past problems. Within the first few sessions, in the comfort of a safe, secure and confidential space, we can discuss and agree on both short term and long term therapy goals and how to accomplish them by collaborating as a therapeutic team according to a patient's needs.
