What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide individualized psychiatric and mental health care for patients in Kentucky, Florida, Illinois, and Minnesota. As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I have extensive experience caring for children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and women during pregnancy and the perinatal period. Patients work with me for psychiatric evaluations, psychiatric medication management, psychotherapy, and treatment of ADHD, anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma and PTSD, sleep concerns, and behavioral and emotional difficulties. I also help patients navigate life transitions that can affect mental health, relationships, work, school, and everyday functioning. My approach combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment with psychotherapy, psychoeducation, lifestyle strategies, and complementary approaches when clinically appropriate. I consider symptoms within the larger context of medical history, medications, sleep, stress, relationships, physical health, lifestyle, and personal values. I believe patients should understand their diagnosis and treatment options rather than simply receive a prescription. My goal is to develop a practical, individualized treatment plan that helps each patient understand what we are treating, why a particular approach is recommended, and what comes next.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each visit begins with a thoughtful discussion of your current symptoms, concerns, medical and psychiatric history, medications, and treatment goals. If you are currently taking medications or supplements, please bring your medication bottles or an up-to-date medication list to your appointment. Your evaluation is used to better understand your symptoms, clarify your diagnosis when appropriate, and develop an individualized treatment plan. Depending on your needs, treatment may include psychiatric medication management, psychotherapy, psychoeducation, lifestyle recommendations, or complementary approaches when clinically appropriate. Treatment decisions are made collaboratively, with time to discuss your options, expected benefits, potential risks, and questions. When additional evaluation or specialized care would be beneficial, referrals or coordination with other healthcare professionals may be recommended. The goal is for you to leave each visit with a clear understanding of your treatment plan and next steps.
