Getting to know Lindsay Hildreth

I provide psychiatric evaluations and medication management at Advaita Integrated Medicine, both in-person and through telehealth. Before transitioning into medicine, I spent 13 years teaching biology and nearly 17 years instructing yoga. Since becoming a Physician Assistant in 2018, I’ve focused my work entirely on psychiatric care. My background is somewhat nontraditional and intentionally broad. I earned my undergraduate degree in Secondary Science Education from the University of Dayton, along with a Bachelor of Science. I also hold two master’s degrees—one in the sciences and one in the arts. I completed my Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Wingate University and a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies from SUNY Brockport. I care deeply about helping people feel informed and involved in their treatment. Medication can play an important role, but it’s only one part of a much larger picture. I’m interested in how different approaches—talk therapy, movement, nutrition, meditation, and mindfulness—work together to support mental health. Emotional and physical health are closely connected, and I try to approach care in a way that reflects that. My goal is to help you better understand what’s going on and build a way forward that feels sustainable and aligned with your life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work best with people who are ready to take an active role in their emotional health, even when they aren't completely sure what that looks like yet. I know that making changes can be uncomfortable, so creating a safe environment is very important to me. You can share at a pace that feels comfortable, and we'll work from there. I want you to feel that you can be vulnerable without feeling judged or pressured. Medication management can help reduce symptoms that may be getting in the way of making meaningful changes in your life. When we use medication, I’ll take the time to explain how it works, what we hope it will accomplish, and what you should know about it. I also encourage patients to pay attention to the everyday habits that affect how they feel. Exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress, and other parts of physical health can all play a role in emotional wellbeing and are worth discussing as part of your care.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment begins with your story. I want to understand what you’ve been experiencing, what has brought you to treatment, and what you would like your life to look like as you begin feeling better. We’ll talk about your symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, medications, lifestyle, and the factors that may be affecting your mental health. I’ll also spend time explaining what I’m seeing clinically so you have a better understanding of what may be contributing to your symptoms. From there, we’ll develop a treatment plan together. Medication management may be part of that plan, and we may also identify changes related to exercise, nutrition, sleep, stress, or other areas that can support your goals. During follow-up visits, we’ll evaluate how you’re responding, address questions or concerns, and adjust treatment when necessary. I want you to understand what we're doing throughout the process and feel comfortable taking an active role in your care.
