About Lindsay Pettit
When my daughter was born, she was sick and stayed in the hospital for about seven months during her first year. That experience gave me deep empathy and compassion for people going through difficult times. You just assume your baby will be healthy and normal. I had to leave the hospital without my baby, and that was very tough. But I felt blessed knowing she was receiving excellent care. This experience truly inspired me to help others and pay it forward.
I've been doing this work for almost 40 years now. I earned my education at San José State University, which laid the foundation for my career. My philosophy of care is to treat the entire person. I spend time with each patient and get to know them as individuals.
Anybody can perform the physical aspects of being a doctor, but connecting with patients emotionally is what makes this work so meaningful. When I walk down the street now, people come up to me with their children-whom I helped deliver. When you connect on such a personal level, people appreciate it and remember it forever.
