About Lindsay Riddick
After earning her Master of Science degree in nursing from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 2020, Lindsay Riddick worked as both an educator at HCA Clear Lake Hospital and later as a family nurse practitioner in pediatric practices. I needed an EKG for surgical clearance ahead of my upcoming ankle procedure. I was seen by the Physician Assistant, which I had no issue with. During the appointment, I was transparent about my history of high blood pressure, noting that it is well-managed and monitored by my primary care physician.
The following day, I received a message stating "your results show stable ECG from the last completed 8 years ago". However, I was later contacted by a nurse who informed me that she would not provide clearance because I am not her patient. This was frustrating and disappointing. If the provider felt uncomfortable issuing clearance, I believe I should have been referred directly to the cardiologist rather than proceeding with the appointment and being charged a co-pay. Unfortunately, the visit did not result in the clearance I needed and felt like a waste of both time and money.
