I needed an EKG for surgical clearance ahead of my upcoming ankle procedure. I was seen by the Physician Assistant, which I had no issue with. During the appointment, I was transparent about my history of high blood pressure, noting that it is well-managed and monitored by my primary care physician. The following day, I received a message stating "your results show stable ECG from the last completed 8 years ago". However, I was later contacted by a nurse who informed me that she would not provide clearance because I am not her patient. This was frustrating and disappointing. If the provider felt uncomfortable issuing clearance, I believe I should have been referred directly to the cardiologist rather than proceeding with the appointment and being charged a co-pay. Unfortunately, the visit did not result in the clearance I needed and felt like a waste of both time and money.
